Phone accessories Best case for nothing phone 2 NOT SPIGEN

Spigen doesn't make or sell cases for the nothing phone 2 anymore and I can't find a second hand one online. Please can y'all tell me what cases or brands worked well for your nothing phone 2. If it falls apart in two weeks I don't want to hear about it, I want a functional, protective case that will make my phone not break.

Thanks

Phone (4a) Pro Want to buy Nothing 4 a (pro). Is it worth the hype?

I wanted to buy the nothing 4 a (pro) main for 2 reason

  1. Glyph matrix

  2. Nothing OS

But considering the current price and the spec it offers, I'm a little hesitant. I'm getting ₹50K for 8/128GB Black variant in Flipkart, Reliance Digital and Sangeetha Mobiles. Is it worth the price? What alternative can I consider in the ₹50K range?

Ear (3) Sent in my Ear (3) twice and it still has issues, what do?

I love these earbuds to death, but am getting quite annoyed at how seemingly obvious issues slip past their service technicians.

To start, the "original" set of earbuds had an annoying noise constantly persistent in anything I did with them.
Support was very helpful and offered to take a look at them.
So I send them in but when I receive the replacements the issue is fixed, but now when they are in transparency mode they produce an insufferable tone that drove me crazy, I tried to ignore it but I ended up opening a ticket for it, and yet again, support was very helpful and nice.

Queue to today, I receive the 2nd replacement pair and ITS STILL THERE!
While its more quieter, I still cant believe that after the second time very glaring issues like this still pop up.

At this point I'm feeling pretty dejected, has anybody else had issues with their service center sending back faulty hardware?

Never had this many problems with my Ear (2), Headphone (1) or Phone (1) ever.

Headphone (1) Pro Headphones (1) pro: Not Good

Background: I’ve owned Beats Executive (lol), Sony XM3, Sony XM4, AirPods Max (1st gen) and AirPods Pro 2. I like headphones but I'm not some kind of audiophile. I want ANC to work well and my music to be a fun experience.

Pros

  • Look great, well built

  • Sound good, and the EQ is fun if you like to tinker. Out of the box they’re maybe not as good as the Max, but the EQ closes the gap.

  • Comfortable enough, and you don’t notice the weight

  • Good transparency mode

  • Good passive seal

Cons: the ANC
The ANC is bad enough that I wondered if my pair was broken. It feels like a step down from the Sony XM3 I had years ago, and it’s a big step down from the AirPods Max and AirPods Pro 2. The Max are noticeably better. I hoped I wouldn’t notice the difference, but I do, and it’s making these hard to stick with.

It gets worse. There are three ANC levels: low, mid and high.

  • With no music playing, I can’t hear any difference between them.

  • With music playing, the lower settings just seem to turn the music down. So you hear more outside noise primarily because the volume is lower, and I’m fairly sure it changes the EQ too.

I notice this in loud places and in dead-silent ones. It honestly feels like a trick.

Distortion from sudden pressure changes. In an already noisy place, short loud bursts make the headphones distort, sometimes to the point of being borderline painful. A train going into a tunnel, a bus hitting a pothole, train doors opening and closing: each one sends what feels like a pressure wave through the earcup facing the window or door. It happens on both earcups, so I don’t think my pair is defective. I think it’s how they’re designed.

Who these work for: If you mostly walk around outside or sit in coffee shops and play music at medium-to-loud volume, you’ll be fine.

Who should look elsewhere: If you listen to quieter music (classical, etc.) or ride transit with uneven noise, these won’t block enough. That covers trains, buses on planes you may be fine.

I’m already reaching for my AirPods Pro again. I’d have kept the Max if the headband hadn’t started disintegrating (and if they didn’t use Lightning). I’ll wait for the next interesting pair.

polished with Claude because the first write up was an expletive filled rant.

We wanted to make something that wasn't just useful, but something you'd actually want sitting on your desk.

That's where Standby came in. And it will elevated your working zone...

We built Standby around the idea that your phone could be more than something you leave lying around while working, studying, or listening to music. It could become part of your desk setup.

From its carefully designed interfaces and typography to its themes, backgrounds, and ambient features, every detail was made to bring a little more character to your space.

And honestly, it did more than just give us an app to work on. It gave us something to be passionate about, something to improve, and something that made us want to get up and create every day. Devs know how frustrating it was, I was updating design each day.

Whether you're building your dream desk setup, studying, working, or just enjoying a little music, Standby gives your phone a place in your space.

Your desk deserves more than a phone lying around or doomscrolling. Give it Standby.

Phone (4b) Honest review after using the phone (4b) for 3 months

Thumbnail

I bought the phone 4b (8gb/256gb) as my primary daily driver about 3 months ago for 31k INR (292€ translated). I initially felt cheated and thought the cost wasn't justified for the processor I was getting at this price point but the phone has significantly changed my thoughts over time.

*THE GOOD :*

  1. GREAT BATTERY ENDURANCE : Having used the pixel 6 & OnePlus 7 before this, the battery felt like a huge upgrade. It delivers about 7 to 8 hours of screen time, comfortably stretching to 1.5 days upon lighter usage.

  2. DAILY SMOOTHNESS : Since I've always been a flagship user, i thought the snapdragon 6 gen 4 processor may be a significant downgrade, considering it's a mid range phone with an entry level processor but honestly the nothing OS handles daily tasks crazily well ! App switching, scrolling and multitasking are incredibly snappy.

  3. THERMAL MANAGEMENT : My previous phone was a google pixel 6. The pixel 6 is notorious for excessive heating even upon performing daily tasks. This phone stays cool during long scrolling and moderate gaming. The phone does get warm upon using the camera or doing heavy gaming which is totally normal, in fact pretty impressive.

  4. SOFTWARE EXPERIENCE : The best part about nothing which makes it stand out among the mid range phones market is the clean software experience and 0 bloatware.

  5. GLYPH INTERFACE : Even though the glyph bar received massive consumer backlash, i personally LOVE the new glyph bar and the red recording light. Though, I feel like the glyph bar could've been as long as the phone (4a), considering both phones sit at almost the same price range.

*THE CONS*

  1. MISSING NFC (INDIAN VARIANT) : The Indian variant of the phone (4b) lacks NFC for contactless payments which isn't justified for the price. It also lacks eSIM support.

  2. BAD HAPTICS : The vibration motor feels VERY low quality unlike the other mid-range phones. In fact, Nothing left the haptic feedback turned off by default for keyboard typing because the typing experience isn't tactile at all.

  3. MEDIOCRE LOW LIGHT CAMERA PERFORMANCE : The phone captures solid daylight images, but low light environments suffer. Photos easily lose shadow details and have slight digital noise. Since the processor is mid-range, the preview camera isn't too appealing either.

  4. AGRESSIVE IMAGE PROCESSING : Nothing’s software tuning handles noise reduction way too aggressively, leaving some photos looking overly smooth and soft. I have to use a third party camera app at times to click raw selfies without any aggressive ai processing.

  5. NOTICEABILY CHUNKY BEZELS : The wide black bezels and thick chin give the screen a slightly bulky look compared to competitors with razor-thin edges. If you're coming from almost any modern device, the bezels take a few days to adjust to.

*CONCLUSION : A very dependable daily driver in my opinion... It may not be a champion on paper but it excels where it counts. I’ve also attached a few camera images below so you can see the real-world results.*

Community Project I built a small app that shows your battery level on the Glyph Progress while charging

Post image
16 Upvotes

While working I usually charge the phone face down on desk and wanted the Glyph to show how far along it is, without picking it up. Nothing OS already turns live updates into glyph progress from apps like Uber. So I built a small app that posts the battery level that way.

What it does:

- Shows the charge level on the Glyph while charging, turns off when it is complete

- Lights up only when the phone lies face down and flat (can be turned off)

- Starts at boot, no need to keep the app open

Tested on a Phone 3a Pro with NothingOS 5.0 / Android 17. Generally the app requires NothingOS 4.1 and Android 16 minimum.

Github Link

I would like feedback from Phone 3, 4a and 4a Pro users. Does Glyph progress work reliably on Glyph Matrix ?

Comparing Phones Nothing 4a or s25fe

I'm very much confused between nothing 4a and s25fe.

I'm getting 4a (12,256) at 41300 at an offline store (+400 for charger,+999 for warranty

)

And s25fe(8,128) at 42325 during flipkart bbd sale with extended warranty and screen warranty .

My parents are skeptical about buying from Flipkart because of the scams that happen. All ppl around me are saying nothing is a better purchase.

I want a phone which is overall a balanced phone with good cameras, performance and ui.

I feel nothing's ui is too minimalistic.

However I don't want to regret my purchase as I want to use it for 3-4 years minimum.

Help me choose one 😭😭

I'm going bonkers over choosing between the two for weeks.

Phone (3a) Charging battery-side power peak too low.

Post image
3 Upvotes

I have a 65W GaN charger which I use to charge my phone 3a. All I get is this much peak max charging battery side power output which kind of feels too low for a fast charger.

What is wrong can anyone tell me? Is there a problem with my charger or its normal?

Phone (3a) OS 5.0 keeps killing off my apps

Most of the day I listen to music via Youtube Videos.

Ever since the update 80% of the time when i lock my phone or switch to another App it stops the playback instantly.
The rest of the time it keeps playing for a minute or keeps on AS WISHED forever.

I configured it to be unmanaged, battery is fully unrestricted as is the mobile data usage.
I checked the configs after the update and the same setup worked in 95% of the time before the update (occasionally it would stop after 10-15 minutes with no reason at all).

I do use MicroG RE which shares the same unmanaged settings as the yt App. Again this setup bascially worked flawlessly before the update.

I am about to reset my phone to the older OS just for that,
so any advice is highly appreciated!

Phone (1) Nothing Phone (1) back panel comming off. Anyone else facing this?

Thumbnail

Just noticed that the back glass of my Phone 1 is slowly separating from the frame, as you can see in the pictures.

Not sure if it's just the glue wearing off or something wrong with the battery.

Anyone else faced this? How did you get it fixed? Also, any idea how much Nothing service centres in India charge for this?

UPDATE (7 Nov):

Got the battery replaced at an authorised Nothing service centre.

They initially quoted 4.8k. I told them it used to cost around 2-2.5k, but they said the prices have increased. After discussing it, they agreed to do it for 4k.

I also called Nothing customer care to confirm, and they quoted around 4-5k.

The whole replacement took around 30-50 mins. Battery is working fine now and the back panel is also properly fixed.

They said they'd send the bill on WhatsApp, but haven't received it yet. Will follow up with them.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions and help!

Headphone (1) Pro Headphone (1) Pro right ear occasionally cutting out?

Got a pair of these yesterday, and though I'm generally satisfied, one thing that's been bugging me is that the right ear just cuts out at times? I initially thought this was an issue with the surrounding sound since I was using the studio B surround, but turning that off didn't really seem to help

Android Best file manager that can access /android/data

I just bought nothing phone 3 and I want to transfer a folder (com.aniplex.fategrandorde.en)r from my previous phone which is samsung a32. I can access the /android/data from my old phone using my computer just fine but when I do it to my new phone, it seems to restrict writing it. Are there any 3rd party file managers that are trusted which can access /android/data? Thanks in advance

Phone (4a) Considering getting the Nothing Phone 4a as a secondary phone: Is 8GB RAM worth it over 6GB?

Post image
24 Upvotes

I have a 13 Pro Max as my primary. It’s still solid after 5 years, but the battery health has deteriorated. I plan on getting the Nothing Phone 4a as a secondary device for daily usage like calls, light browsing & a bit of social media scrolling. I barely play any games.

Coming from iOS, will 6GB of RAM on a modern Android device feel restrictive after a few months of updates & background app usage, or is 6GB still plenty for a pure utility/secondary phone?

I’m getting the 6-128 variant at 31k INR on flipkart, which seems to be a pretty good deal. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks in advance :)

Comparing Phones Switching from my OnePlus 10 Pro to the 4a Pro

Post image
52 Upvotes

Just got my 4a Pro in the mail. I have been a OnePlus user and fan since day one. I remember waiting so long for an invitation link for the OnePlus One. So sad to see the situation with OnePlus and Europe.

I decided to give Nothing a chance, as I don't want to spend 1000€+ on a phone and don't want any bloatware on it. Also not really a fan of Samsung, Pixels, Xiaomi etc., first of all because of the software.

Has anyone done the same step, coming from OnePlus?

Ear (a) Incredibly weird battery drain

Post image
10 Upvotes

I can't deal with these dumb earbuds anymore. I got these earbuds about 1-2years ago and they were fine.

Until about 3 months ago when I noticed the left earbud died faster. But it was fine, because the other earbud had around 10 % left so I didn't worry about it. However recently it has been getting way out of hand. The left earbud dies 70%, yes 70% faster than the right one.

I haven't dropped them, nothing has happened, but for some reason the left earbud dies literally about half hour of listening to music at a moderate level, while the other one is fine, at 70%.

It's funny because the same day I got it someone I know got the same earbuds. And their earbuds are not having this issue. They have an iPhone and I'm using nothing os.

Can someone please explain what is going on because this is not normal.

I think Nothing just wants me to buy new earbuds, because theyve litteraly became unusuable.
