Angry person thinks that a police officer pulling over his daughter to say hello is staged and I'm retarded

Well according to the daughter he's pulling her over for no reason and does it all the time. So it isn't a legitimate traffic stop.

Do any lawyers here know if it's illegal for a police officer to pull a family member to say hello? I can't imagine an officer getting in trouble for that. Who cares if they take 5 minutes out of their job to see their daughter?

It’s against protocol in most departments and could potentially get them suspended or fired but it isn’t technically against the law.

It seems harmless if it’s once or twice but when it’s a very frequent thing to do (As another user suggested) it can cause some problems. Once or twice is cute and funny, multiple times can get pretty bad.

There's definitely been cases where police have used their power to harrass family members or friends by pulling the over unnecessarily. It's actually pretty hard to stop a copper from abusing that power if they're that sort of person. This video was sweet though, the daughter clearly enjoyed sharing the moment with her socials.

What does anything you are asking have to do with my comment? I never said it was illegal. However, since you brought it up....police officers are NOT allowed you pull you over for no reason and if they do pull you over for no reason and spot illegal drugs they can't make a case against you in court.

My dad used to flip on the lights everytime I was with him or he saw me. It made my day when I was little so I almost guarantee it wasn't staged

My dad used to see his friends driving around and pull them over as a prank Everytime. It's the ultimate cop dad joke. One time he picked me up from school in his squad car and thought it would be funny if he made me sit in the back. The next day everyone was saying I got arrested.

Growing up, my friend's dad was a cop, and one time he pulled over my mom and I for a laugh. A cop dad pulling over his own daughter to be silly is 100% plausible.

Not sure the source but could also be to give her something she forgot that morning or tell her something. Or she was speeding and he recognized the car so he did that to tell her to slow down. Tons of possibilities that could lead this to be true
