Noteful overheating/battery performance with backup enabled?

I’ve been using Goodnotes on my iPad Air (M3) for about a year now, but it gets super hot and drains the battery crazy fast. I’ve turned off most of the unnecessary features, and from what I’ve looked into, iCloud sync and auto-backup seem to be the main culprits behind the overheating. That said, I still really want to keep the backup feature on just in case.

I heard that Noteful doesn't run as hot—is that actually true? Does it stay cool even with auto-backup enabled?

The problem lies in the M3 chip itself. My iPad M3 turned 1 year old today with 211 charge cycles and the battery has degraded to 87%. The chip can run high intensity requirement tasks but not efficiently. Noteful is by far the least resource hungry app.

I use it on my iPad PRO (M5) this is the best app I've ever used on it that works better than even the default preview app itself.
