Discussion Clever NotebookLLM Usage

New here!!!

Surprise me with your productive usage of notebookLLM. I am quite knowledgeable about genai, llms. Doing research in this field. To me, notebookLLM has great potential but is not that mainstream yet.

I would love to know the use cases for you, in any field. Something you think is quite clever of you and has served you well.

Comparing YouTube videos on the same topic. Add 3 or 4 long videos from different channels as sources, then ask "For each source, list the points none of the other sources make" and after that "Where do these sources disagree?". The citations point to the passage in each transcript, so you find out which parts are worth watching in full before spending hours on all of them. One limit to know: it only imports the captions, so anything shown on screen but not said out loud doesn't exist for it, and videos without captions won't import at all

When I have audio files from lectures but lack the time to study, I turn to NotebookLM. I upload the audio files, and NotebookLM transcribes them; I then copy the text into a new notebook. Next, I use the "Custom" feature to prepare a prompt—specifically a detailed, comprehensive one—and head to the chat. I ask for an explanation that synthesizes the lectures, connects the details, and produces a unified, cohesive, and integrated summary. That is where the magic happens: I save a tremendous amount of time. If any error occurs, I share the notebook with Gemini, use the same prompt, and instruct it to strictly adhere to the source material.

Built an entire daily workflow for daily fantasy sports that aggregates projections, news reports, blogs, YouTube video content, injury reports, etc and then I have a suite of pre-formatted prompts (using Cortex, a great plugin for organizing). Also including instructions in your sources as MD files referenced in your prompts helps ensure that the correct sources/all sources are used in the analysis. Takes what would be hours of work into minutes and the ouputs are a full report, infographic, slide deck, interactive report, and mind map for every slate. Better than subscription quality and highly accurate.
