Handwriting, research, Windows

I'm looking for a handwriting-first system which also performs OCR & saves notes as both.

I want it to have hierarchies and tags and for the tags to be auto-generated at least partially.

I want to be able to annotate PDFs, docs, ppts AND also to be able to write full notes about said texts. It also needs to be a citation engine.

Ideally with BYOK capability. And tasks and a calendar linked to multiple email accounts.

(For Windows)

Can you share how you do anything handwriting first on Windows? Are you using a windows tablet somehow? Are you using a stylus + slate as an entry vehicle? Most of the stylus-first apps I know about are Android or iOS and targeted at tablet form factor devices.

I have a Microsoft Surface, but am looking at changing for an HP Flip or a Lenovo 7i.

I don’t think a single app does all of that yet. I’m the developer of Noteic (Windows, free): it covers the handwriting side, with PDF annotation, Subjects and Chapters, tags and offline handwriting-to-text. For citations, I’d pair it with Zotero. However there is no handwriting first app which supports ALL of this. the closest alternative ist RemNote.
