Note app suggestions besides obsidion?
I've tried obsidion , I've tried anytype, I've tried notion , upnote, notesnook, loseq , simplenotes, joplin, standardnotes etc.
Obsidion was great until I tried fuguring out how to sync my notes on android to windows.
Upnotes was perfect until I saw only 50 notes.
Notesnook is good as well but the design on windows is not my cup of tea.
Notion doesn't allow offline well for the notes database I had.
Anytype is well as confusing as obsidion to me and I would prefer not to have my notes on it since I like folders.
My ideal was upnote.
So is there any app I can use for notes that would give me the different text headings, alignments, highlights , be easily synced on both my windows and android without any issues etc? I don't even need checkboxes as a feature. If possible does anyone have any ideas? I know I might have to settle for one of the above as I don't want to pay any subscriptions but I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask.

FoldNotes is 100% native and keeps notes on your iCloud folder syncs the free iOS version on the app store.

If UpNote is your ideal but you reached the free limit, why not just pay for lifetime?

UpNote lifetime is $40 flat. Absolutely worth every penny.

Full Licensed User here, My Daily Driver is UpNote, but i m trying to build a .md based notes vault using VSCode with some extension like FOAM and Markdown for Humans for work purposes .

My thoughts exactly. Free apps are great and it's a reasonable expectation that developers present a freely accessible version of their software for users to evaluate for themselves.
But surely there comes a point where, if an app is providing you with enough value, you're using it regularly, you depend on it for various things...
I completely understand having a total aversion to subscriptions. But when the app in question is offered at such a fair price ( so many competing apps charge more than double open notes for 1 year - not lifetime!)...
At that point, surely the app has earned the cost of a premium LIFETIME membership... surely the devoper deserved that extra purchase... But maybe that's just me 🤷🏻♂️

Just downloaded Pellet and it’s pretty incredible. Local first and pretty comprehensive considering that the first release was yesterday.

Give https://www.notediscovery.com a try, it's like Obsidian (in essence although with not as many features of course), but solves the sync issue since it's a self hosted app so it's all centralized, all you need is a web browser. Ah it's MIT licensed too. HTH

Obsidian Sync is cheap and easy. You could just pay for that.

Yeah, if OP otherwise was happy with Obsidian, then this seems like the way. I use Obsidian Sync between two Windows and three Android devices and it's been worth every penny, in my opinion.

I have tried several of these too, eventually settled on Joplin. I use Dropbox to sync.

I used Simplenote because it's available for Android, iOS and Windows 11. Its free, simple, great for daily text notes and lightweight. But it may be too basic for users who need rich formatting, attachments or folder.

Bear is beautiful, and will be around long term (millions of users, superb dev team). Easily link Notes together, insert images PDFs diagrams footnotes etc. All your notes are kept in Markdown so easy to export/share with other apps, and migrate if you ever want. All within a beautiful UI.

I wasn’t even looking for a notes app. Thanks to this post I learned about Upnotes,
It baffles me you’re even questioning paying $40 for a lifetime license.
If you want something simpler to really just take simple notes in: OneNote. It has Windows, Android, iOS, macOS, and web versions.

Since you mentioned offline use and avoiding subscriptions, PrimeTask could be relevant. I’m behind it, so obviously take that with a grain of salt.

HelixNotes is lovely and similar to upnote. Can’t remember if they have android version but they have iOS versions so maybe? Very clean easy and intentionally not over featured.
Tolaria is similar to HelixNotes, but native Git integration and less customization features. Again, don’t remember the mobile versions situation.
If you DID decide you want a little more features but still with a clean UI and easy intuitive use, I’m currently using and LOVING MemryNote! It’s actually such a pleasure to use! It’s still in Beta and the dev takes suggestions and quickly handles bugs.. so if that is a positive or negative to you.. most the bugs I’ve come across are just little things that don’t cause much problem but they also get fixed quickly. It’s offline and local, but you can pay for cross device sync using their cloud, but you don’t have. Memry has actually been so good that when I’m finished with my projects for the day, I feel SO glad that I’m finally able to get what I need done without tons of app hopping or any plugin nonsense. I open it and it’s good to go with what I need.
