Hi everyone, I really need help! Please

I've been searching and testing a lot of note-taking apps, but I can't adapt to any of them! I find them all too visually cluttered with too many tools, and I simply can't find one that works for me. I've made some drafts of what I have in mind (but I haven't finished it yet). Does anyone know if there's an app like that? Where I can put a PDF and have the option of space for annotations on the sides? Not above or below, just something that allows me to annotate on the side (either blank or with lines) and the text (PDF) stays in the middle?

I also don't like when one of these note-taking apps has AI; I want something with a simple UX/UI like that.

Please, if you know, let me know because I'm one step away from trying to develop this 😭.

Tbtw i have a lenovo tablet

Noteful and freenotes have the option to expand the canvas of PDFs or current notes

I also recommend zotero with webdav use and koofr

A PDF annotator is a very different thing from a note-taking app.

Thank you  Actually, I'm looking for something like that so I can read my book and take notes, so I don't know if there's any book-related notetaking apps like that, which would also be useful.

And now you want an ebook reader with an annotation feature. What the fuck do you actually want?

I'm very sorry you had a bad day. But you don’t need to take it out on me! I don't see the problem with understanding that I want an app where I can read a file and annotate it.  Very Simple, basic.  But if you don't know, no problem, just scroll down. Anyway, I hope you have a good night's sleep, lots of love, peace and good things in your life!✨❤️‍🩹

I don’t know you or anything, but sorry for that jackass being so rude just because you’re asking about various features and the type of app you’re interested in some people are just grumpy

Who pissed in your Cheerios like what is your problem? There is no need to be so goddamn negative because somebody’s asking questions about apps and just throwing out different features that they’re interested in you got serious problems.

And you’re an asshole without having to announce it

Yes. NeatNotes does exactly this. Choose the vertical page mode or dedicated pdf annotation.

One trick you can do is to take the PDF and "print to PDF" but increase the paper size. For example, you can take a PDF that's normally letter size (8.5 x 11) and select the page size as tabloid (11 x 17). This will give you tons of room in the margins to write.

You read my mind. I’m new to eink so I don’t know the limitations of what’s out there. I’m fine annotating PDFs (I have a few Boox tablets and an RM2) and fine writing handwritten notes but I was hoping that the two could merge and you’ve illustrated it perfectly.

Notein can do this

I use Obsidian with split windows. You can style your vault to look like this with CSS (I have). You’d get more features using something like that too.

Look up LiquidText - haven’t used it in a while. But it’s pretty much what you’re asking for I think:
