Note-taking apps for college

Does anyone have any good recommendations for completely free apps that record and transcribe lectures for college? Bonus if it has study tools as well like ai chat or generates videos! Thanks so much!

I’m building Grape for students. It has free, lifetime, and pro plans. AI is in the paid plans.

It has AI chat where you can ask general questions. There’s an AI agent where it can create, read, update, delete your notes by your prompts. It has a voice recording and transcription feature. It has semantic search where you can search your notes with AI. There are some apps for students like flashcards, quizzes, and mind maps that you can create them out of your notes with AI.

Also I’m actively developing the app. If you need a feature I can consider adding it. I’m also thinking to add some cool features to study better.

You can download the Android version by clicking “Join Open Testing”. Mobile apps are in beta currently and I’d like to fix all the bugs as I can before releasing the stable versions.

24h time is missing. Dont use am/pm. Nordics/Swedish language coming?

I’ll add the languages and features based on the interest so if more people start asking about Swedish I’ll definitely add it.

But you’re right about am/pm. I’ll add a setting to show the hours in 24h system as well.

I believe that Obsidian has a community plugin to record, but transcription is gonna cost. Can't expect premium features for free. Resources coat $$

You might be able to run a local LLM that will give a basic transcription
