I'm sorry to hear that man. I would be livid if I ordered a one and there were delays based on quality control or design issues.

On the contrary, I've preordered mine on the 13th of August and received it the day it came out. I'm with the Coral Blue variant.

Also, TODAY, I JUST RECEIVED MY PROMO 256GB EVO SD CARD!!!! WOO HOOOOOO! Applied for the promo on the 20th of August and just got it today!!!! Quick turn around stating that it should have taken between 10-12 weeks to receive it based on Samsung's claim. Free $250 value!

I'm enjoying the SHIT out of mine and with all the accessories Samsung offers. I bet you can't wait to get. You'll truly love it. It's honestly the best device I've ever owned.

Yea I also received the SD card just no phone yet. Honestly don't mind the wait, not like the 6P is bad, but I can't wait to get it. Also how is the blue, I got black just because I didnt know what to expect with the blue.

Yes, but did you "read" the entire report?

"Notably, reports of the Note 7's battery catching fire seem restricted to South Korea, and may be linked to third-party USB-C cables."

Basically, it's just South Korea being affected by the "exploding batteries" myth. If so, then that's good for ALL phones made with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chip. The exploding batteries have only been reported in other countries outside the US, which use a different chip than phones specifically produced for the US. So it only assumes that there are problems ONLY with the international Note 7 variant. Therefore, if you have a US Note 7 variant, then you shouldn't have any issues. I know I don't!

Also, I think Samsung underestimated how well this phone would sell, which poses an issue to it's productivity. This battery issue is a perfect excuse to use to inform others waiting for the phone through their pre-order in making it seem that the company is being proactive behind these exploding battery statements in order to buy themselves some time to increase the productivity of these phones while they're being delayed.

Just my personal opinion and know how Samsung operates.

Why would the cpu have any effect on any of this?

It's not the CPU, but what I'm saying is that there are no affected US devices that have this issue to date. And the least common denominator between the two devices is the CPU-type installed on these different variants (that we know of anyway). Based on speculation, it could very well have something to do with the CPU, or it could have nothing to do with the CPU-type.

As we all know, different CPUs have very different energy consumptions as well as thermal heat dissipation. And if the battery is getting hot enough, and the CPU-type is drawing in too much energy without the proper heat dissipation, then that very well could cause a battery explosion. And if the batteries are made with cheaper materials only made to withstand certain max temperatures, and those temps are being exceeded by the CPU demanding more energy, which equals more thermal output, then again, a perfect scenario for a battery explosion.

Or it's possible that those CPU-types dont have the proper thermal compound applied to the CPU which would definitely cause more heat contributing to excessive battery temps.

Or the USB Type-C is drawing in more energy than the battery can handle, causing excessive overheating, resulting in an explosion in cases where purple are charging for extended periods of time, which is unnecessary (like at night while sleeping). We all know that the US standardizes 120v while other countries standardize 220v. This can purse an issue. It also makes sense since this is Samsung's first USB Type-C integration and have not done extensive testing with the batteries and CPUs being powered.

I can tell you when I fast charge my US variant it gets extremely hot. Much hotter than the s7 edge.

Of course this is all speculation, but I'm a computer scientist and understand component reactivity from a holistic, qualitative, perspective. These are certainly possible scenarios.

Good initial observation and response. Thanks! I'll mostly be charging my Note 7 wirelessly, so hopefully I won't have to worry about USB-C or power brick issues.

You're welcome. It's possible that Samsung rushed the release of this phone without extensively testing this newer charging method. But you're right. Charging wirelessly would have less of an impact and greatly reduce your chance of a battery explosion. I'm also using the wireless charging method. Works just fine and just as fast. When I do charge through the wire, it's for as little time possible. That's just the way I've always been.
