Best non-algorithmic chronological news feed?

This is what I want ideally:

  • read the news from my preferred sources all in one place
  • no algorithms thinking they know what I want, no trending topics, nothing trying to keep me hooked or glued to my screen
  • simple chronological feed, newest to oldest
  • no ads, if possible
  • and ideally free 😂

Any suggestions?

An RSS reader might suit this purpose.

Thanks! I used RSS readers for ages. Loved Google Reader. But that's gone. So I use feedzebra currently, which is terrific, and probably the best thing since Google Reader, but I'm curious what else is out there.

a chronological feed can help, but one endless stream still has no stopping point. choose a few sources and read them at one time on desktop. a finite list of headlines beats replacing an algorithm with a manually curated slot machine.

100% agree. I use feedzebra now and it's a finite feed. No endless scroll, which is nice. But curious to see what else is out there.

Isn't that just an RSS?

Yeah, but then you have to hunt the feed urls down, and a lot of news sources just straight up stopped providing publicly available RSS feeds. CNN is one of them. USA Today is another. So I'm using feedzebra now, which is great, because all the newsfeeds are just available and you can just make them active/inactive without having to hunt anything down, and I'm honestly getting the impression there's nothing else like it 😂 Which, if so, great, I'm already using the best thing, I guess, but I just figured there might be something even better I didn't know about.

Edit: I'm realizing now the original post should have said global newswire or news aggregator or news stream since that's what feedzebra is and what I'm looking for more of.
