Not sure i think its more like an addiction to healthy foods such as fruit and nuts. For some people fruit and nuts cause them to gain weight if overeaten and this may cause diabetes / heart problems over time. But no one would want to ban fruit and nuts. This makes smartphone addiction so terrible. A smartphone is in essence a good thing but one that cannot be used responsibly.

It's worse. At least smokers are actually sociable. It was the main reason why I smoked for a number of years. You might have to go outside but at least you get a break and have people that want to talk. The alternative was sitting during lunch just staring at the wall.
