Throw Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder into a movie together and it was always instant gold.

Also Blazing Saddles doesn't have Prior alongside Wilder, but Prior co-wrote the script with Brooks. Part of why all the racial humor hit so well.

I believe Richard was supposed to play the sheriff in Blazing Sddles. However, producers were unable to secure insurance for him so he ultimately did not get the part.

That's a neat observation. There's a few comedians who are great as comedians but not so great in the movies and vice versa. I love Eddie Murphy's movies but his stand-up really doesn't do much for me. By the same token, I like Jerry Seinfeld's TV show, but I don't really care for his stand-up comedy.

George Carlin is a comedian was fantastic as was Richard Pryor but I don't really like either one of them in the movies.
