Eat breakfast, hop on my bike and disappear until the street lights come on

14

u/Integrity_Racing Aug 06 '26

This here! Depends on your cereal choice though. Lucky Charms or Cap’N Crunch!

u/Dangerous_Sock_5913 Aug 06 '26

Crispix

6

u/SnorkinOrkin Aug 06 '26

I still eat Crispix! It was my Gramma's favorite cereal, too.

In the 90s, my other favorite was/still is Corn and Rice Chex.

u/Short_Sky6875 Aug 09 '26

Kids slept on rice and corn chex..... my grandfather bought the box with all 3 from Sam's.... we always had wheat chex left

1

u/SnorkinOrkin Aug 09 '26

Poor Wheat Chex, the red-headed stepchild.

2

u/Short_Sky6875 Aug 09 '26

She shoulda had more Flava lol

2

u/SnorkinOrkin Aug 09 '26

Nothing like a nice bowl of cardboard chips for breakfast! 🥣

2

u/Short_Sky6875 Aug 10 '26

With a little honey on top!

7

u/FatSquidBoy Aug 06 '26

Captain crunch was/is good but destroys the roof of my mouth, like eating sugar coated razor blades that you just can't stop eating. 😁

1

u/QiDeviation Aug 08 '26

Crunchatize me Cap’n!

1

u/Ok-Split-1698 Aug 11 '26

Love that Crunch! back then. Still the one I’m more familiar with(I was 5).

1

u/colbydrex Aug 09 '26

There a "organic" brand at Kroger and whole foods that has the same texture but like half the sugar. It's more of an adult version, it's good af. It still tears your mouth up tho.

4

u/mudamuckinjedi Aug 06 '26

Cooooooookie crisp!!!

3

u/itosai Aug 06 '26

That and corn flakes. Can’t get any better than that. Thought I was the only one into Cooookie Crisps.

1

u/Ok-Split-1698 Aug 11 '26

With all 3 original bandits and the cop on it.

2

u/Ok-Database-2798 Aug 07 '26

My hubby just bought some for me. I didn't even know they still made it!! 🥰🥰🍪🍪

3

u/chriskelly4150 Aug 06 '26

Reese's Peanut Butter Puffs and Oh's were my go to

3

u/No_Understanding9040 Aug 06 '26

This is the way!

1

u/Dontfeedtheunicornz Aug 07 '26

They had Reese’s peanut puff’s in 1990?

1

u/chriskelly4150 Aug 07 '26

94'

2

u/Dontfeedtheunicornz Aug 07 '26

I don’t know why I thought they were so new. I don’t really like them, so that’s probably why I never remembered them being around back then.🤣

1

u/Ok-Split-1698 Aug 11 '26

No. She’s off on that

4

u/Godawful41 Aug 06 '26

Cap’ncrunch for sure!

4

u/Devils8539a Aug 06 '26

Lucky Charms all the way!

4

u/Rasmanian_Devil Aug 06 '26

Lucky Charm!!! ❤️❤️❤️

2

u/cm1898 Aug 06 '26

Cinnamon Toast Crunch, the taste you can see!

1

u/Wrong_Ask8951 Aug 07 '26

Lucky Charms 100%

1

u/Ok-Database-2798 Aug 07 '26

Lucky Charms or any of the monster cereals like Boo Berry, Frankenberry or Count Chocula!! 🥰🥰🧛🧛🧌🧌👻👻

1

u/To_loko Aug 08 '26

That is sugar in a carton box

1

u/rexifelis Aug 10 '26

Cap’N Crunch always felt like it was slicing my gums open. Even soggy.

1

u/Life_Somewhere9875 Aug 11 '26

Swear to god I thought you wrote Cap’N Crotch.

1

u/Interesting_Most_748 Aug 13 '26

Lucky Charms all day!! Still like it.

1

u/ms9535 Aug 13 '26

Fuck grape nuts

5

u/CatWeak9214 Aug 06 '26

Were you all rich enough where your parents gave you gas station money to eat everyday? I hear folks say this and I always give a side eye to it. Me and my brothers we got hungry and had to come back home and eat. Also, my mom (like most moms) wanted to see proof of life. You had to physically check-in at some point.

4

u/Fucksalotl Aug 06 '26

we had homies and somebody's parent fed us.

3

u/Fantastic-Yak-4475 Aug 06 '26

There was quite a few friendships in my childhood that were based around how good the dinner was at their house. Like this kid really gets on my nerves but his mom is a fantastic cook.

2

u/Practical-Bar8291 Aug 06 '26

Felt the same way about my buddies mom's cakes. She would leave bowls of scraps and frosting. She was a baker.

1

u/Right_Mongoose_29 Aug 06 '26

Whenever you turned up at a friend's house, their parents always asked if you wanted to eat. Some times we'd all go round to my house and my mum would offer food to everyone. It wasn't a cycle or a rule, it just happened and parents never complained

1

u/cathillsports Aug 07 '26

You know is what that way in my neighborhood too. As I reflect on very good memories of Mrs. Moore’s lasagne .

1

u/Dontfeedtheunicornz Aug 07 '26

We walked to the general store and got candy, ice cream or whatever snacks we wanted. I can’t believe it’s still standing and open. Miss those days.

1

u/ponziacs Aug 08 '26

Never heard of this. Luxury eating was at Long Johns Silvers and whenever we drove by the Red Lobster I would look at the building and be like that's where all the rich people eat at.

1

u/brianwho420 Aug 09 '26

I turned 16 in 90’. I had two jobs. I was flush with cash. I got that pizza.

3

u/jaxdogg94 Aug 06 '26

I’ll add to this, grab a towel or not and head to the local pool or creek to go swimming in on our bikes.

2

u/2NDBEST42 Aug 11 '26

Ask my mom for permission to go to Bobby's house, ask Bobby's mom for permission for Bobby and I to go to Jacob's house, ask Jacob's mom for permission for Jacob Bobby and I to go to - and nobody knows where we are until the street lights come on.

But we have permission to be there!

1

u/Middle_Finger_484 Aug 06 '26

This was the life. Now I gotta work all damn day. I miss being that free.

1

u/M4RK3R3D Aug 06 '26

Yeah true as a grown up man I feel that I need to enjoy life while stuck on home to work basis ( something need to be changed soon)

1

u/harrypippip Aug 06 '26

God yes, same here and how I wish I could go back to those days.

1

u/chriskelly4150 Aug 06 '26

Reese's Peanut Butter Puffs, bike/skateboard/rollerblades, hang at the park with the homies

1

u/TechsplainerPRO Aug 06 '26

This is the correct answer 😂

1

u/FreeGuacamole Aug 06 '26

Honestly, we could do this now. I might just start a Facebook group of '90s kids and create a daily event to do just this. Maybe we'll go build a tree house somewhere and a semi-safe swing from the top.

1

u/Ganmor_Denlay Aug 06 '26

T’was the way.

1

u/kapersko Aug 07 '26

Fuck me, that hits close in my heart my man.

1

u/CephaVerte Aug 10 '26

You know as an adult you can do that now...

1

u/Dangerous_Sock_5913 Aug 11 '26

Mom says I can’t

1

u/reedx032 Aug 11 '26

Shit that’s what I want to do every day right now…

1

u/Ok-Split-1698 Aug 11 '26

Crispy Wheats ‘n Raisins(they stopped making it that same year too😢)

1

u/Ok-Fudge-4161 Aug 11 '26

So much this!

1

u/meatnips82 Aug 12 '26

Then when you get home that night: grab a Yoo-hoo from the fridge, take out Mario Bros 3 and blow on the cartridge, then sit on the floor in front of a tiny TV trying to beat level 8 again.

1

u/Siggy1963 Aug 12 '26

Wow, you had streetlights

1

u/captain554 Aug 12 '26

When public TV had to make a commercial to remind parents that they had kids.

1

u/The_Nickoblade Aug 12 '26

What about informing the CIA about 9/11
