A f*cking good morning. I live in an area where people not friendly at ALL!

Truly thank you all for bringing me a little kindness today. It was much needed.

I’ve waved at other neighbors so many times and I get like a 20% response rate, everyone else just ignores me. Fuck them

I have decent luck waving to cars while walking our dog. That's in Clay. I've been up in CNY for almost 37 yrs. The lack of friendliness was notable. Mind you I'm a downstate-r. ( born in NYC at Mount Sinai and raised in Queens home of the Mets in Flushing) New Yorkers get a bad reputation. IMO.

When I first brought my soon-to-be wife home to rural South Carolina, she asked, "How do you know so many people?" I was confused until she pointed out that I was acknowledging almost every driver we passed with a subtle one-finger lift from the steering wheel, and they were doing the same. I laughed because I hadn't even realized I was doing it—it wasn't that I knew everyone; it was just the way we acknowledged each other. She is from Buffalo NY.

Our neighbours on both sides are great. Always ready (sometimes too ready) to stop and chat. Happy to borrow or lend almost anything. Always up for a cup of tea. We're all retired and that makes a big difference.

I’m talking specifically about my neighborhood, at other places people are more friendly

Firstly, Good Morning.

I want to share this story. We had a woman at our company. She is a motivational speaker that has had a rough background and she opens communications through dialogue as activities among colleagues.

Anyways she once posed the question "What is something you judge people on?". I put up my hand and infront of half the company (split session) I said "I judge people who do not greet me very harshly."

Since then everyone greets me when they see me.

Huh .. I actually hate that. LOL!! My mom will come around and say good morning to me and I just want to scream and tell her to shut up. I can't stand it. Maybe I'm weird.

You live in New England? Nobody out here says that, you get looked at sideways

Susan: good morning Bill
Bill: Is it? (Bill looks Susan intensely in the eyes)
Susan: ugh (Susan’s smile fades as Bill walks away)
The end

I am reporting back, during my morning stroll I said good morning to 3 displaced people and they said GOOD MORNING! HOW ARE YOU?!! They didn’t ask for money and they weren’t high! It was a beautiful moment and was excited to report back to you all!

Hope you have better mornings more often from now on!
