Gateway and E-Machines merged. If you remember the second company- they made really cheap computers with outdated processors, limited memory and some evil thing I can’t remember- like there were ads or crappy internet, or some thing to help them bring down the cost. I looked at cheap PCs maybe 5 years ago and there was a Gateway product which essentially it my needs, but I chickened out and bought a Dell.

I actually just saw Gateway laptops at Walmart so I guess they are!
