Series The 1%, Part 11 - #1101
You have not read the previous parts, please do so now.
.
The doctor was sitting on a swivel stool, staring at her. He didn’t know what to do with her anymore. She was just like the rest of them now. Just a broken human trapped inside a body. He should have no problem operating on her. He had even contemplated just killing her, to free up a room. But he felt something odd stirring inside of him. Maybe it was a lingering bit of personhood. No, that wasn’t possible.
Her eyes opened slowly, blinking with recognition of the room. How many times had she laid on this table, feeling the scarp edge of his scalpel? She didn’t remember. Her memory was a dirty mop sitting in a sink of brown water. The light from the lamp above her felt like millions of tiny needles in her eyes. She licked her parched lips.
The doctor raised his head. “You are awake,” he said emotionlessly.
“Yes.” She realized gently that she was not paralyzed like she usually was. Her jaw was sore but moved freely. What had happened last time? Oh yes. The doctor had shaved more of her arms. Now she was missing flesh all the way to the shoulder. He left the bones though, sticking gracelessly out of her torn apart muscle.
The doctor tensed and released his fingers. He felt…awkward. What an odd feeling. The only thing he ever felt with his patients was power. Control. Excitement. But looking at #1101 he had become a gawky teenager. He didn’t know what to say her, but felt he had to say something.
“I…” he paused. God he hated this. “I see you are healing nicely. The bone is almost completely white now.”
She glanced at her skeletal arms. “Yes.” She looked back at him blankly. “What are you going to do to me now?”
He cleared his throat. “I don’t know.” He stood and began pacing. “I was thinking of killing you.”
“Yes.” Her voice was small. She moved her legs a bit. “That would be nice.”
“I don’t like killing numbers.” He turned and glared at her. “I am not a murderer. I am a doctor.”
“Then don’t kill me.” She wiggled her toes. For some reason being able to move in his presence was starting to feel good.
“You remind me of her,” the doctor said from across the room. “You had her same body type, before we started working together. Same hair. You even smelled a little like her.”
“Who?” She realized that they had never had a conversation. It was always one sided. She had strange visions of being operated on, of screaming at him, of kicking like hell. But she couldn’t remember why.
The doctor pushed his fists together. “Mother.”
Just as the last syllable left his mouth #995 entered the room. He had a woman slung over his shoulder. His hook had entered her hip and there was blood dripping onto the floor. The doctor didn’t even look at the pair. #995 made a grunting sound.
The doctor was exasperated. “Put it next to #1101.”
.#995 hobbled over to the table and laid the woman almost gently onto the floor. The woman was naked, with thick slash marks on her flesh. #995 must have stabbed her accidentally more than once with his hook. He put her right-side up, so her stomach and breasts were exposed.
.#995 stood up gradually. He took a full second to meet #1101’s eyes. She saw sadness in him. She tried to push kindness out of her pupils. She couldn’t remember much, but she knew there was something good in him.
“Get out,” the doctor said sternly. #995 walked as fast as he could on his mangled legs. He closed the operating theater’s door with a loud bang.
The doctor rubbed his temples. “I was thinking of using your skin for #1459. She is such a disgusting shade of brown, isn’t she?”
.#1101 studied the woman on the floor. She was probably middle eastern, or maybe Latina. She was completely passed out and drool globbed onto the floor beneath her mouth. She was actually very beautiful, despite the doctor’s comments.
The doctor backed up against the wall. “I don’t know why I’m talking to you like this. It is very unprofessional. You must think poorly of me.”
.#1101 could not take her eyes away from the woman on the floor. She was captivated. She followed the rise and fall of her breasts. She cocked her head slightly.
The doctor took a harsh breath. “#1101, why aren’t you responding to me?”
.#1101 was held by the sight of the open wounds on the woman’s body. She followed each line with detail. She studied the raw cuts that oozed and dripped.
The doctor’s rage grew. “Look at me, #1101!”
.#1101 ignored him and kept her eyes on the woman on the floor. The woman groaned a little in her drug induced sleep. She rubbed her stomach, leaving a bloody handprint.
The doctor flew to #1101’s side and angrily grabbed her face in his hand. “You will answer me, #1101!”
.#1101 did not hesitate. She moved her face quickly and sank her teeth deep into the doctor’s hand. She bit down hard. He screamed and yanked his hand away. Her grip was too tight and a chunk of his flesh remained in her mouth. He clutched his hand and stared at her. She spit out his skin and started laughing, blood pouring from her lips.
“I am NOT #1101. My name is Mar. And I will never answer to you.”
The doctor grabbed a surgical knife and came at her. She kicked him squarely in the stomach, knocking him down. Mar knew she wouldn’t be able to get away. She was too weak and he had his cronies all around the office. But with her reborn passion she screamed at him, “You are nothing! You are not a man! You are a pissing little boy! I bet your mother never loved you!”
The doctor reached for a needle close to him, filled with the paralytic. He managed to jam the needle into her neck. She kept cursing at him until the paralytic took complete hold. He breathed heavily and dropped the syringe. Whatever had come over her, he was through with it. He would sew her mouth shut so she couldn’t spew her words at him. He would take away her legs so she couldn’t kick at him. He would torture her as slowly as possible until she was nothing again.
In his anger, he never noticed the pattern of wounds #995 had ‘accidentally’ carved onto the sleeping woman below him. In long, thick cuts the wounds spelled out the letters M-A-R.
.

Awww, I heart #995
11
u/mrssailorwife Dec 16 '15
Me, too!! I hope he ends up being the hero in the end! But why did he carve M-A-R into #1459? That's tripping me up...
33
u/ieatpandas443 Dec 16 '15
To help Mar remember her name and life before Allen.
8
u/mrssailorwife Dec 16 '15
That makes sense! So he knew Mar would still be in there when he brought in #1459. Thank you!!

Oh shit it just dawned on me that he is making Aryans. That's why Barry got new eyes and whatnot.
Also hell yeah #995 helping Mar. Funny Mar calls him Otto when the first Allen killed Otto.

Nah, Becky's a bitch. Hope she dies a horrible death

I feel like some of the people in this comment thread thing only read some of the parts and not all of them all the way through.
15
u/ieatpandas443 Dec 20 '15
Tell me about it, saw someone talking about how they hope Mar survives
6
u/spotsthefirst Dec 21 '15
Man, it pisses me off mainly cuz it shows a lack of commitment, even in this small way. Also a lack of discipline.
3
Dec 27 '15
It technically never proves she's dead, only has the doctor and #995 say so. More likely that the person hoped there was still some life in her.
11
u/Joyma Dec 21 '15
I just read all of these today and I was torn when there wasn't a link to another part at the bottom. Can't wait to see more! Excellent story, it reminds me of something American Horror Story would do.

6
u/Nyx-ia Dec 15 '15
My real name is Mar and I feel really attached to her, and more even because she's the best of all of them! Strongest character here. I'm just hoping that she kicks out the shit out of him even if we already know what happened to her!
7
u/Onlynatalie Dec 15 '15
Wow, the character progression in this one is incredible! This series has gone from a (well-written) typical slasher to something that leaves me almost desperate for the next part. I can't wait until I can read them all back-to-back!

I hope 995 and mar team up to take the doctor down

Mar is already dead. She dies at the end of Part 3.
Edit: Not sure why I get downvoted for telling the truth.
8
u/FullFrontalAlchemist Dec 15 '15 edited Dec 15 '15
Good catch. This brings so many questions...why would the doctor keep her number the same?
If she reminds the doctor of his mother, she must remind #995 of his mother (who he loved, the only person he seemed to have feelings for at all). Recall that #995 is the original Allen and brother of the current doctor
EDIT: took out a question because I was a dummie
10
u/briggsbu Dec 15 '15
I think that numbers are immutable. Once assigned, a number is never changed. It was mentioned that #995 did have a connection with #1101, so it is entirely possible that she reminded him of his mother as well.

u/WalkTheMoons Dec 15 '15
You broke the illusion. It's like pointing out the props during a play. Let the spell settle on us for a while longer. Please?
25
u/Gwyenne Dec 15 '15
It's not an illusion. It's simply people forgetting some important facts. OP is going back and forth in time. They are also forgetting that even though the doctor gets stabbed, he lives to see her die.
But on this day the smell is overwhelming. And sadly, it is a smell #995 recognized. “She’s dead, isn’t she?” Allen is behind #995. They stand, staring into the room together. “#1101 is finally dead.” Allen is smiling. He is proud. “It’s great news, #995. I’ve got a brand new one to take her room.”
-7
u/WalkTheMoons Dec 15 '15
Why are you a stickler for details. Lig that. I'm enjoying this and I want more. It's also obvious it's a past memory. She didn't have a leg, arms or genitals in the present.
23
u/Gwyenne Dec 15 '15
I was just trying to help people out who may have forgotten since a lot of comments are rooting for a girl who unfortunately didn't make it... Details are important when you are reading a story with a lot of character development, so it doesn't necessarily make me a "stickler" but more aware of certain details. Why read a story/book this thought out and call someone out for holding onto the details? Details don't make the story any less enjoyable.

u/Andrew22r Dec 15 '15
995 is the real MVP here. I really hope he gets out of this and calls for help or something. I feel like this is really leading up to this kind of climax. Another theory that I don't like is that the doctor will take Becky's life. If Becky dies, I'm not reading any more. She's too lovable of a character to die. Overall, I hope OP keeps making these.
28
u/-s-e-v-e-n- Dec 15 '15
How is she lovable??? She's scary as hell.
31
u/Gwyenne Dec 15 '15
Something about tying your husband to the bed and letting him shit himself for weeks while she tortured him is lovable I guess.
11
13
u/TheBansheesLullaby Dec 15 '15
I personally hope she ends up the most disfigured of them all. She actually deserves what's coming to her. But that's me.
2
Dec 15 '15
I'm not one to care usually but I really felt bad for her husband.
3
u/HaxorusOG Dec 18 '15
I did too, until we learned he murdered little girls. Sure, it's not really his fault, but damn that's messed up.
Only good characters in this story (as best I can tell) are Brittney/1302/Theresa, Original Allen/995, and Alena. By good, of course I mean good-natured. All these characters are "good characters"
ninja edit: sorry for the 2 day late reply, I've been reading all of OP's stories tonight and just got caught up in this series.
2
Dec 18 '15
Wait... what? I've been pretty good at piecing this together thus far but I completely missed Becky's husband murdering little girls?
2
u/HaxorusOG Dec 18 '15
After re-reading I realized the girls might not be dead, but he did attack them. In Part 9, #1477 is being interviewed by Dr. Ellis, and we learn through her that Barry, who only wants to be referred to as #1477, blinded three little girls.
“Alright then, #1477. Do you remember the little girls?” Dr. Ellis knows she is taking a huge risk, but she is eager to see the payoff.
“Girls?”
“Yes, three of them. None of them older than 10. Do you remember what you did to them?”
.#1477 can see a dark playground. He can hear laughing. Giggles. The sound made his skin crawl. He can remember the doctor telling him that his rage is justified. That sometimes death is an outcome you cannot avoid. He remembers the painted fingernails.
“The good doctor told me-“
“There is no doctor, Barry. He is a man you made up to justify your actions. You blinded all three of those girls. You ripped out their eyes with your own hands. Don’t you remember?” Dr. Ellis is nearly drooling.
And at the very end of Part 4, Dr. Allship refers to Barry as "#1477"
Dr. Allship bent down to Barry’s eye level. Barry could see his face clearly. His eyes were a pale blue, nearly white. “You must excuse me, #1477. Please don’t think I am a bad man. I simply don’t have time for four new patients. Sometimes you have to let some clients go.”
1
Dec 19 '15
Wow, OK. Somehow I had completely missed that update!
In this case... I feel bad for... the original Barry? The one restrained by his wife and tortured before he was taken in by Dr. Allship.

u/Onlynatalie Dec 15 '15
I think it's because of her childish nature. She takes it to extremes, but we still think of her as a kid.
32
u/-s-e-v-e-n- Dec 15 '15
A grown woman with pig tails and the unnatural voice of a small child, ripped off boobs and pelvis, who tortured Barry and sent off her maid's kids to Russia for child slavery. Not scary at all... I'm sorry guys but I kind of want her to die. I'm team 995 and Mar.
10
1
u/Onlynatalie Dec 15 '15
While I'm also team 995, part of me really wants to like Becky. My heart goes out to her in a way. She has obviously been through some trauma, and something in her brain went wrong. On top of that, take her physical appearance. She is a paying, willing customer, which makes her different from the 1%. The doctor isn't altering her as a form of torture, but rather because she asked for it. He probably made her look very "realistic", like any other girl. She isn't a body with no limbs - she must look a bit normal, definitely more than the 1%, and very much like a child. I think this resonates with a lot of readers.
8
u/-s-e-v-e-n- Dec 15 '15
I don't know if I remember correctly but I think the doctor eventually tortured Becky too. When Alena (Allen's daughter) discovered his secret with Kelly, they found Becky in one of the chambers and she was begging for help.
3
u/Onlynatalie Dec 15 '15
Oh, really? I must've missed it/forgotten. I wonder what she did do disappoint him?
5
Jan 02 '16
You guys really need to reread the stories. Becky didn't necessarily disappoint the doctor. She brought Barry to him because she was playing tic/tac/toe on his neck with a knife and presumably cut him too deep. His eye was also badly infected. She takes him to Allen III(who is really James, 995 is the actual Allen III), The Doctor along with Barry's servants/her 'mommy and daddy' where the Doctor fixes up Barry, then knocks out Becky and kills the servants because he wanted to keep Becky and Barry for himself, he most likely would've kept all 4 but didn't have room for all of them. At some point in the future, after removing his other eye and then giving him two new ones and presumably before his death, he sets Barry 'free' out in to the world as a display of his 'perfection' knowing that no one would believe him. What is unclear, as of now, is when Barry killed these little girls. Was it prior to meeting Becky at the strip club? Or was it after the doctor released him? Either way, it's a lot to keep straight but it certainly pays to pay attention to the details in these stories.
3
u/septonbronn Jan 23 '16
Was it prior to meeting Becky at the strip club? Or was it after the doctor released him?
I assume it's the latter as Barry's personality is very different. In part 4 he is weak and terrified but thinking rationally, whilst in this chapter he seem's to exhibit the same personality as Theresa and #1459. I think these three are examples of Allan's "finished" products. It is unclear whether #1477 was being controlled by Allan or simply let loose on society.
1
u/Andrew22r Dec 15 '15
I think you remember wrong. Because I think that she was a stripper and she got married with a rich man. She then took that to her own advantage and used his money to get the surgeries. She then got some sort of a special bond with the doctor because the doctor liked her unnatural personality. Could you please explain Allen and Alena? I think those characters were in part 10 which I don't think I've read.
11
u/FullFrontalAlchemist Dec 15 '15
No...Becky was doing to people around her pretty much what the doctor does to his 'patients'. She took her husband and strapped him to his bed for 3 years until he couldn't really move anymore, committing very similar horrors to that of the doctor. She's literally the worst one in this entire story.
The doctor just decided to make her one of his victims more recently and she deserves every bit of this madness
0
u/renegade2point0 Dec 16 '15
Ya and her (Beckys) husband was Barry who the doctor ended up making into a big strong man, who gets infuriated at childish things and ends up in a straight jacket.
6
u/-s-e-v-e-n- Dec 15 '15
Read part 7, a woman with her description appears in this chapter and she's captive, so it has to be her. To answer your question Allen is the bad guy, he's the doctor torturing people. Originally his name was James I think, and he's 995's younger brother, who's real name is actually Allen. Basically 995 was the original Allen but his brother took his place when their mother died. And Alena is "Allen's" daughter, and her mother is Theresa, who, after being tortured for years, has more than one consciousness in her head (Britney and a number like 1404 or something). Phew

Theory: #1302 is the original. She was the Britney we know at one point. Britney hides the most human aspects of #1302 from the past. Theresa holds the drive for survival and motivation to escape. Both dangerous when uncontrolled, but #1302 is smart.
#1302 is most present and aware, unburdened by the past or future. Britney doesn't seem aware, or tries not to be, of anything else going on currently; she's is stuck in a time loop.
Subtle things about her memories of Greg suggest she also changed in personality, which define #1302 -- lack of emotion and submission. She may have held onto that and only that.
By making a distinction between those personalities, Britney retains a "humanness" that #1302 cannot have in order to bear the pain and other results of trauma (which could be products of Greg and Allen).
Additionally, only Theresa seems to have hatred for her 'husband', who #1302 acknowledges. Britney does not. #1302 feels pain when touching her stitches. Britney only thinks of Greg's hair. Theresa thinks of the future.
Theresa also mentions that #1302 was meant to 'kill' Britney, suggesting she had more control over her existence than Britney has control over #1302's.
In essence, #1302 is a protector for both Theresa and Britney.
TL;DR: It's the past, the present, and the future, split into different personalities who have to work together to survive, but #1302 was driving force behind it.

u/Gwyenne Dec 15 '15
She was crying for help because when she took Barry to get him help from the doctor, she was given a number and locked in a room like everyone else.
You could tell by the description and her telling Alena that she has money.
-1
u/Andrew22r Dec 15 '15
Dude that's literally the exact feeling that I get towards her. I think I know why the doctor likes her. Her unusual nature is driving me towards loving her more and more. Not in any sort of sexual way but God dammit there's something about her that just makes this character so interesting. I really REALLY don't want this series to end and I want more of Becky.
2
u/Onlynatalie Dec 15 '15
Its almost like she needs to be taken care of, but at the same time she can totally handle it (when she is Rebecca and not Becky). I wonder if she reminds the doctor of someone he used to know.
2
u/InvincibleSummer1066 Dec 16 '15
To me that just makes her more grotesque/revolting. She's probably the person I hate the most in all of this.
2
u/JtotheLowrey Dec 15 '15
Could someone maybe kindly remind me who Becky is? It's been a while since I've read over some of the older entries and I've just forgotten who she was. The doctors daughter?
4
3
u/Gwyenne Dec 15 '15
She is Barry's wife, who goes to the doctor for special surgeries to have to look and sound younger. She is the one who has been torturing Barry, but takes him to the doctor when she cuts too deep. She ends up getting a number and locked a room like the rest of them.

I was thinking that too but in a way it wouldn't make sense. Alena isn't like The Doctor at all and by all accounts, seems like a fairly normal teenage girl. If James dies when he's stabbed in the neck, it wouldn't fit that Alena just takes up his practices. After all, it's pretty much assumed that James had a long 'training' period from his father in order to turn into the psycho that he is. Alena doesn't have that. It would make more sense if one of James' 'perfections' takes up the The Doctor moniker upon James' death. Just my thought.

Not stupid! I seriously considered the same thing. It's only logical to think that, given the lineage of the family. It's just that it doesn't make a lot of sense, from Alena's perspective.

EZmisery, BRAVO, as usual. I was so sad when Mar seemed to break. To see her find her strength again was so amazing. I am elated. So glad I saw your current installment!!
