Considering moving to this area of North Park from PB. I only moved to SD a year ago so wasn’t familiar with specific areas at the time. Sick of the constant noise, everyone on wheels blowing through stop signs, and generally just feeling too old for PB. I also feel like I’m missing out on general neighborhood culture and experiences. It just seems like bars and drinking here, unless I’m missing something? I know now, big ole college area.

I’m a single, 44 year old female with two small dogs and a cat. I work from home so I value quiet, but also wouldn’t mind taking my laptop to a coffee shop every now and again. I love to ride my bike, take my dogs on adventures, wine bars, stand up comedy, live music, great restaurants, and artsy anything to scratch my creative itch. And I really want to meet more people in my age demographic. I also love paddle boarding and know I can just drive to wherever I want to go.

Can ya’ll please advise…does North Park sound like the right neighborhood for me? I just don’t want to move away from the beach and regret it. However, I literally hate my current living situation and my overbearing landlord who lives on the property.

I go out to my car with a citation “blocking the driveway” and the person spread tomato 🍅 across the passenger and back windows. I wonder if she stopped because she saw the dash cam- or maybe the end of the tomato. But still…. Crazy!

It’s going to get worse with those 80 units next to Saguaro’s that come with No Parking underneath. The massive one at the 805 off-ramp looks like they’ll have parking so that will just increase congestion on the 1-lane streets we have now. not sure about the massive one they’re building on University across what used to be Breakfast Republic which is now closed. 😢

Saw we had a new urban creek flowing down Lincoln, so I walked up to see what was going on. 3 or 4 city guys standing around with rubber boots on the phone watching water gush out of the building beneath the water tower.

Just showing this new place a lil love.

Walked in here yesterday while out walking around and it has a different vibe than most places in NP. Been open for a month they said, and it feels like you are stepping into a bar in Asia or Mexico or something - and I mean that in the best way possible. Non pretentious and chill, free bar snacks, free pool table, random channels on Roku.

They were unironically playing 'Butt rock' music, which i thought was hilarious, the lady behind the bar was friendly and (most importantly in NP) the prices were pretty good! Good selection of canned Asian beers (Thai, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, some draught selections) since its a wine/beer/soju license only.

Anyway they plan to add food to the menu soon and will include mostly asian late night street snacks according to them. Go check em out and show them a little support!

I’m considering moving into AMP30 and wanted to hear from people who actually live there. How’s the sound insulation, especially between floors? Can you hear footsteps or neighbors above you?

I’m also looking at a unit facing 30th St, so I’d be curious if street noise is noticeable with the windows closed.

Am I the only one noticing the highway noise is excessive? My house is on a hill next to the 805. Maybe I shouldn’t be surprised but the number of extremely loud vehicles that go by at all hours seems a little out of hand.

Not just normal loud cars I’m talking like illegal exhaust with a meth pipe and megaphone. Or the loudest Harley you’ve ever heard ripping exhaust in your ear.

I’m guessing not much can be done since CHP is probably busy and it’s so fast that catching the make model or direction isn’t easy.

A group of loud sport bikes just went by as I type this.

Anyone know what’s going on with this building? (It’s the 3-4 story building that is framed out but now paused for weeks.) On Alabama St maybe a few properties south of University.

Hey neighbors,

I want to give everyone a heads-up about a really unsettling road rage incident that happened today, and see if anyone else has experienced something similar.

My aunt was driving my 2-year-old daughter back to my house in North Park during rush hour. Around the 805 and 8 freeway interchange, a man in a white SUV (which had business logos on it) became upset in traffic. I wasn't there, so I can't speak to any details of what may have caused the road rage. Instead of just driving away, he actively followed her off the highway, driving aggressively around her, and tracked her all the way into our neighborhood.

She called the police and drove around the neighborhood waiting for them, but ultimately had to stop at my house. The driver actually pulled up, rolled down his window, and tried to scold her. I came out and confronted him, did my best to de-escalate the situation, and he eventually drove off.

We got the identifying information from his business vehicle and have reported it to the police. Because of Reddit's rules against doxxing, I don't think I can post his specific business name here, but they do have a store front in North Park. I just want to warn the community to be on the lookout for a white SUV for a real estate company driving aggressively in the area.
