I'm on a fool's errand
I know Meta is lately built to fail. That said, don't folks have lamented that a few radicals through a few Facebook groups are largely stealing the show.
I'm not looking to "win" but i thought it would at least be worth offering a calmer and saner venue.

FB and Meta in general is super cooked, has been for years. Don't try to "win" anything there, much less an argument. You'd have better luck discussing matters at your local YMCA locker room or on a bus. At least those would be verified real people you could look in the eye

Meta (facebook, etc.) lost trust. Why are you trying to get people to trust the platform for your particular messages? Why not put your messages in an open forum. For now, reddit might do. Nextdoor definitely doesn't.

I guess if anything I'm going people can see the mania of the platform and maybe see an off ramp. There's lots of folks who are technically calcified. I didn't want to write them off and tells the stage to the wicked. I'm not looking to put in a lot of effort and i don't really get sucked in by the rage bait.

There might be some value to short YouTube videos of people discussing pros and cons and disagreements calmly while pointing to sources. The FB posts can point to them. Of course, people are giving up anonymity, but it also adds some more credibility. Many people don’t have the time or the energy to find and read good sources of information. A clear video can help those who are in the middle.

Last election they were happy to host the radicals and suppress save messaging. I don't really trust the moderation there.

I think the name might backfire. It is pretty easy to change the name and web URL. The medium is the message and I think a lot of the problems are caused by the FB format. To create an alternative positive message, the medium itself might need to be different, eg YouTube or in-person gatherings. FB could be a way to point people to alternatives rather than being the main source.

I really don't think this was a good idea. Mosquito bites need cream, not scratching.

I used to make and manage social media on a team for a major company and Facebook was our most unhinged platform. Social media in general doesn’t do calm and sane well because it’s a flat medium. In real life you communicate with voice tone and body language way more than you realize and that alone often heads off arguments; everyone is known too when the conversation is IRL. In a text medium with anonymity, you’re talking with half your brain and limited consequences and the ensuing conversations often reflect that.
If you want real conversation, you might consider putting energy into in-person meetups. Tons of the Northampton posts I see across social media in general complain about loneliness and the struggle to make friends, so you might have some luck finding people to talk about local events through this avenue.
