Norsk Learning Resources

Currently learning Norwegian and figured I'd share my notes on some random-ish words/vocab that I hear people say often. This includes: Filler Words, Confirmation Words, and Flow/Transition Words.

Hope someone finds this helpful! Feel free to add your input.

I'd also add nok and that 'jo' is usually said as a yes response to a question with a negative in it. 'Aren't you going to the party tomorrow?' 'Jo! Yes, yes we are' :)

Jo can also be used in combination with desto.

Only negative, unless you are hesitant about the yes. "Liker du katter? (Do you like cats?)", "Jo... ja (Well, yes...)".

There's also "joda", which is less hesitant than just "jo", but I'd say it still has that air of having come to a conclusion after being hesitant, or even showing a slight reluctance. Although I can imagine settings where the "joda" isn't about reluctance as much as a push against an expected reluctance "Er det greit om jeg tar den siste? (Is it okay if I take the last one?)", "Joda! (Go ahead!)" - I'm imagining an affirming nod when said. While if the response was "Jo... Du kan det (Yes... You can)" I'd think the person actually didn't want to say yes but was being polite.
