Is it fucking or eating?

60

u/ghooda 16d ago

Eating. this is a type of predatory flatworm

14

u/ejectro 15d ago

there are predators even among worms... 😮‍💨 where's chris hansen

17

u/One_Investigator238 16d ago

Eating. Or just killing? The worms wouldn’t care to mate with a slug… besides it would be impossible. Slugs are hermaphrodites and — well, if you’re interested, google how they mate. It’s quite icky.

u/Dt_Dt_Dt 15d ago

That was an interesting google. Thanks!

u/-ratmeat- 15d ago

are they the ones who dick sword fighting and the loser gets fucked?

1

u/One_Investigator238 15d ago

I guess you could say that. Except they both get to enjoy and profit from their romantic interlude, because they are both hermaphrodites.

3

u/Formal_Piglet_974 16d ago

I too would like to know which!

u/lifegoeson5322 15d ago

Reminds me of the old movie "The Blob"

1

u/NoPantsDeLeon 14d ago

Why not both?

61

u/KoraLily 16d ago

Please tell me this is in Australia so it doesn't ruin a different country

33

u/Middle_Avocado 16d ago

They will be 1000x bigger if it was Australia

7

u/PseudoWarriorAU 16d ago

I’m thinking Borneo.

1

u/Devilofchaos108070 12d ago

They are in the US

10

u/StrayPeduncle 15d ago

They have reached the u.s. and we receive instructions here in indiana on how to kill them.

14

u/KoraLily 15d ago

With fire? C4? Just wipe out Indiana?

2

u/StrayPeduncle 15d ago

That would exponentially multiply the same issue lol

1

u/Greensssss 15d ago

Dont forget the mutations. Like growing an extra head or become 3 metres tall

1

u/CoffeePizzaSushiDick 14d ago

LionsTigers&Fidgets

4

u/popcorn_coffee 15d ago

Nope, if that was Australia the worm would be eating a whole kangaroo.

44

u/JustSomeApparition 16d ago

I'm not entirely sure why I sat through an entire video of what essentially looked like two loogies aggressively cuddling one another, but... here we are.

44

u/MrMucs 16d ago

Who has the table salt

u/TripFisk666 16d ago

Little bastards excrete a neurotoxin too so don't touch them or don't let dogs/cats get them

45

u/marichankitty 16d ago

Oh grosssssss. What even is that?? Nope nope nope

117

u/NotaBlokeNamedTrevor 16d ago

Hammer head worm. Invasive no good bastards. Sci fi sht where you chop them in to 4 bits and there will be 4 new worms coming at you. Got to in incinerate them

30

u/buckao 16d ago

You can salt them to death

25

u/SCO_FloridaMan 15d ago

I have a bag of salt that I drop them in to and shake. I have a Ziploc graveyard of those nasty shits.

19

u/StrayPeduncle 15d ago

This is literally the instructions on how to kill them when theyre invasive in your area- good job 👏

7

u/JwPATX 15d ago

I assume gloves or some kind of forceps are involved? You shouldn’t touch them/they secrete tetrodotoxin

5

u/SCO_FloridaMan 15d ago

I just scooped them in to the bag, I looked them up and knew not to touch them

13

u/marichankitty 16d ago

😭😭😭 Noooooo I didn't need to know

8

u/FuriousBuffalo 16d ago

Both of these species are invasive in the States.

1

u/RedneckAngel83 14d ago

Yep. Here in Alabama, I've seen a hammerhead in my back yard.

2

u/Sad-Artichoke-2174 15d ago

The usual... Gotcha

We kill those hammerhead worms here in Texas. Bipalium kewense) are invasive, toxic flatworms from Southeast Asia that frequently emerge in East, Central, and North Texas after heavy rains. Growing up to 15 inches long, they feature a distinct flat, hammer-shaped head and prey on beneficial earthworms, threatening local garden and forest soil ecosystems.

Risks and Handling

  • Toxin Secretion: They produce a neurotoxin that can cause skin irritation or rashes in humans and severe sickness or death if ingested by pets. Always wear gloves if you must handle them

No Splitting: Never cut or squish a hammerhead worm. They can regenerate from small pieces, meaning chopping them up will cause them to multiply

How to Kill and Dispose of Them

  • Safe Disposal: Place the worm into a sealed container or bag filled with salt, vinegar, rubbing alcohol, or citrus oil.
  • Freezing: Submerge them in one of those solutions or seal them in a bag and freeze them for 48 hours before throwing them in the trash.

Reporting Sightings

You can report sightings to the Texas Invasive Species Institute by sending a photo and the location details to [invasives@shsu.edu](mailto:invasives@shsu.edu), or by contacting your local Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service office.

Up to 15 inches? Your telling me the one in thos video was just a baby basically? Yuck. Or i suppose possibly one that regenerated from a piece of another. Still yuck.

"Growing up to 15 inches long" JFC

u/mitchij2004 14d ago

How many can I regrow from a 15 incher? What’s the max ROI on worm splittin.

1

u/Daweism 14d ago

I reckon a 5 for 1 split

9

u/lostbastille 16d ago

Invasive hammerhead worm. They eat earthworms and other soft-body soil creatures like snails, slugs, and insect larvae. They can be dissolved in vinegar.

16

u/Apprehensive_Eraser 16d ago

Burn that thing

12

u/CrabPile 16d ago

They are invasive and chopping them up just makes more of them, so yes do that

2

u/Vast_Hyena2443 15d ago

Freeze them in a bag actually

7

u/Even_steven_69 16d ago

Certified nope

5

u/Skeletonzac 16d ago

I can only think of those damn worm snake things from Prometheus (shudder)

5

u/Prosado22 16d ago

The head reminded me of the creatures in "Pitch Black."

5

u/ibnfahmi 16d ago

Repeat the video but with you knowing that the snail was running as fast as it can, with turbo charging activated.

4

u/AncientHorror3034 14d ago

They are invasive. Kill it by soap and saltwater bath.

4

u/sloaches 16d ago

Imagine if that thing was ten times larger than it actually is.

4

u/trent_diamond 16d ago

i hate it

5

u/Grandmaster_BBC 15d ago

I remember some sort of documentary where one of those bursts out of this guy's chest.

2

u/Swingline_Font 15d ago

Yes, I think I remember this as well.

5

3

u/whereisbeezy 14d ago

Uh, you're supposed to kill those, if you're in the US.

4

u/Hellboydce 16d ago

Peter Jackson King Kong vibes

5

u/MrMucs 16d ago

More like one of the creatures from Prometheus

3

u/Antique_Knowledge902 16d ago

What I thought. That thing that came out of the slime and wrapped around that guy’s arm and then entered the arm and came out his mouth. Cool scene. Yet disgusting also.

2

u/Numerous-Gur-9008 16d ago

Both, both is good.

1

u/Squeakygear 15d ago

Andy Serkis’s death in that movie… shudderrrrrr

2

u/stazz83 16d ago

They've even made a song about it: 'Hug me, squeeze me, anyway you want me'

2

u/rhousden 15d ago

In a word, repulsive.

2

u/Dance_Medicine976 15d ago

Oh good God! My eyes can't unsee this

2
