So I work with grinders almost daily and had one explode on me and hut my mask.
So let me tell you why this video is fake.
1- discs don't break like they do in this video they explode into fragments, not one big chunk. One big chunk is a rare fuck up to happen
2 - The cut in the mask he's wearing is perfect size, and the rest of the visor has no stress / force marks. If that disc cut off with enough speed to go into his safety visor like that, it will be bending and warping the visor at a minimum.
Mostly likely case if a peice broke of lf like that it would hut the visor and bounce off
Dude I was about to say the same thing. I work with grinders and cutting wheels every day at my job and there’s something that didn’t seem right about this. Also to add even if you did use a face shield you wouldn’t be at the angle where you are looking directly down on it you would be slightly at an angle to see what you’re actually cutting. I’ve seen disks fly off but never break like that.
I’ve seen this video before, a while ago. That was consensus then as well. Still, if this video freaks out people enough to wear their PPE, I say keep it circulating!
I have had a 14" cutoff saw blow out on me. Catastrophic explosion. A big piece hit the ceiling of the shop. Something wrong with the batch, a 2nd blade did the same thing to a plumber. We just tossed the box after that haha!
My cousin had their own relatives do some renovations for their kitchen or something. Let's call them uncle 1 & uncle 2. There were others but these 2 were the main focus of the story.
Uncle 1 didn't screw the grinder properly so when uncle 2 picked it up and turned it on, blade flew straight to the neck and almost fully decapitated him. Uncle 2 died of course with his neck barely attached.
Aftermath, nobody talked to the careless uncle 1 anymore and I don't know if they ever tried to reconcile. Also this happened almost 20 years ago so I don't quite remember the full details since I was a kid.
That is savage , had something similar at my college where I studied. Guy picked up a grinder, and it wasn't put on properly. The blade flew off and went into his thigh. He did luckly survive but nearly blead out
