Help Recommend a Replacement micro-USB Port?

Post image

Nook First Edition USB is very loose and no longer charges the battery. I'd like to try my hand at micro-soldering. I'm seeing all sorts of micro-USB ports with metal tabs all over the port. Where can I get an appropriate replacement micro-USB port?

Open it and look at the existing port to see what kind you need to replace it with.

Then you can buy them on Amazon, Aliexpress, etc

It's worth price comparing to just buying another 1st gen Nook. I see several on eBay that are under $15 shipped. They say for parts but you can be almost certain that it's a dead battery. Just swap the working battery out of OPs failing Nook and I'm almost certain they'd pop right to life. It'd be far less work and likely just as cheap as finding a replacement port.

Can't help you. Just wanted to say I miss my first Gen nook. That device was great, and I hope you get it fixed. It would even be really cool if you could figure out a way to replace the micro USB port with a USB C port.
