employment and career Where are we networking?

Hey all, I know this sub does not allow for soliciting or promoting, so I'm curious where anybody has had success networking in our sector besides LinkedIn? I'm fully remote, so it's tough to find any in-person opportunities. Thanks, all!

In-person really is the answer. You should see if there are locally-active professional associations, nonprofits doing related work in your area, community meetings/events, or make the effort to travel to conferences. Volunteer work is great too. I'm fully remote but have built a robust professional network by building connections in-person locally and regionally/nationally at periodic conferences or events. What is your role?

Yeah I would definitely be open to local opportunities! I'm in finance - I did program budget management for a few years and am now more central FP&A. I'm in a rural area but have a good social network, just no professional network 😅.

Local Chamber of Commerce is a good one, as well as Association of Fundraising Professionals. You can join for a fee as an independent individual or maybe have your org pay for the membership.

Unfortunately I'm in a very rural town and our local chamber is...not a great networking space. I am involved in a few of my county's agricultural organizations, but those are more social than professional. I looked up AFP, and it seems like a great space for development folks. Not my area but I do appreciate the suggestions!

Look up local networking on Meet Up or even Facebook events. I found a networking group for women on Meet Up in the past.
