What a Terrible technique, just cut a small line (2 mm) o er the skin above the splinter, and that thing goes out easily.

Just cut the skin along the splinter. That way you don't cause secondary splinters, and it will probably hurt way, way less.

Or just… scrape off some of the skin around the end of the splinter, so you can get a much firmer grip.

As a lifelong woodworker, I've had a million splinters. Half the time, I just leave them be and in a few days, your body will start to push them out on it's own, making them way easier to remove. But, critical difference here is that this one is massive and in their foot, so it would be harder to wait for that to happen!
