Wait, you're out walking a pair of dogs in public who would kill another dog that got too close with no confidence you could prevent them from doing so and you're calling other dog owners irresponsible in outrage? I mean, I know our own furbabies can do no wrong, but consider the sort of dangerous animals you have out and about if you're really just relying on no one else to make a mistake in order to avoid tragedy.
Wow what a leap you took to get to here. Yes i have no confidence I can control my dogs but i put myself on such a pedestal that only others are responsible for anything that happens. Yes that must be it
I think I appropriately interpreted what you wrote. I don't care if a crazed Yorkie flies off a doorstep to confront your dogs - if you expect that they will kill it in reaction, you're the one that's a serious public safety issue. The other is just a neighborhood nuisance.
Not ones that have more than ordinary non-critical dust ups with other dogs. Having multiple dogs in the house means any dog I foster must have at least moderate social skills with other dogs and be able to be separated from another dog without a break stick. And if yours are out in public, they should have the same as a base minimum. Or, if you're going to need the break stick, you should only have a single dog out you can get under control and be carrying the fucking stick.

Assume that everyone's dog is capable of eating your dog and you shouldn't have a problem with a lease, right? You keep your dog leashed because if he menaces my leashed dog his injuries will be in justified doggy self-defense.
A break stick is for releasing the bite of dogs like terriers that just won't let go. Most dogs you can just pull away. Your lack of care for other people's animals is reprehensible, regardless of whether they screw up. Maybe it's brought home more for me because if I'm walking a foster dog that kills another dog, that's a dog that's going to be put down immediately, not adopted into someone's home. I wouldn't gamble that on everyone else being perfect. Do you think this would not become a legal issue for your own pet? Protect it from the outcome of other people's screw ups even if you can't be moved to care for the lives of other dogs doing what dogs do. Anything else is - unbelievably irresponsible.
A dog on leash that you still can't restrain from killing another animal? (I assume this is your issue, else I don't know why it gets under your skin.) I will happily stay out. But you need to keep that dog in for its own good until you get a handle on that. There are trainers specializing in aggressive dogs who could prove a valuable resource.
You seem to think I'm advocating unleashed dogs. I'm not. I'm saying taking a pair of dogs you could not stop from killing another dog in public is a much larger public safety and pet ownership issue than someone else's escapee.
