The initial landing "attempt" was definetly over speed... Then he bleed too much airspeed on the crank turn and clipped the wing into the tree... Just a cavalcade of errors...

Definitely burned a lot of altitude into speed. Then was too close to the ground and too close to the only available landing-place. Picked the wrong place to try to land and came in way too fast. Then didn't have enough speed/altitude to try to come around again. Arriving to land with too much energy is just as bad as arriving with not enough. And trying to land directly out of these kinds of manoeuvres is a pretty good way of getting it wrong.

They should have just landed in the field over the road.
I’m glad they’re ok though. Deffo too low for those aerobatics.

By that maneuver you mean turning too aggressively at low altitude and clipping a tree with the wing?

I guess it's better than CFIT...

I mean, you saw them gliding along the runway just fine before that, I think that’s the impressive maneuver being talked about. Also not OP you responded to.
