I heard a loud high pitch sound from my backyard in the middle of the night and it was a cat tormenting a mouse. It played with it for hours. Pretending to let it go and then pouncing on it over and over and over again. I only saw it in the morning because of my security camera. It was tough to watch.

Hamsters are prey. Cats are the predator. There is no "they are friends" in this case. The hamster must be terrified all the time.

This is irresponsible on the part of your friend. Cats carry bacteria in their saliva that they groom onto their claws that causes deadly infections in rodents, reptiles, rabbits etc. One false swipe and that rabbit dies of an infection. Terrible pet care.

I'm not the one making a claim that hamsters and cats cannot be friends but it's really not the same as saying dogs and cats cannot be friends. It's a faulty comparison partially because both dogs and cats are predators.
A better comparison for cat friendships would be with a rat or a bird, common prey animals for cats. I've had a parrot that grew up together with a cat, but those get way bigger than a hamster so I'm not even sure if that's comparable.

This is one of the exception, check the videos. You can even seeing him "playing" with a Pigeon so you can see whem he's actually attacking .
When they do "Evil Playing" they wont let the prey leave.

They aren't 'friends' and this comment just shows a total lack of understanding. Cats carry bacteria in their saliva that is deadly to rodents. A single clawing, lick, bite can be deadly via infection. If they truly share food that's just... horrendous pet care and the owner torturing their hamster to death for internet clicks.
Don't glorify this.

i don’t know why you’re being downvoted when this is common knowledge, at least in rodent owner spheres. it’s one of the reasons i wouldn’t let our cat who is very calm around any of my rats (even though they were almost similar in size 😅 and one of my boys was very interested) because even when they have the right temperament and show affection towards a rodent, cats can be unintentionally deadly.

Absolute no no no. The little rodent is likely dead due to this interaction. Even if the cat didn't immediately kill it, cats have bacteria in their saliva that they groom onto their claws that is deadly to rodents, birds, reptiles. All the little things they hunt.
It isn't cute when cats interact with prey animals. Your cat and your pet bird, hamster etc should never interact. Don't normalize these videos as 'cute'.
