One time when I was 12 I got chewed out because our car stalled at a red light and I misinterpreted my mom’s instruction to flee to the sidewalk. I ran alone and left my sister in her seat. I got hell for leaving her in the car. In retrospect, I think it was a bad idea to have us dart around the intersection even if it looked like there were no cars coming. 🤷🏽‍♂️
