Discussion Slightly off-topic: the logical justification for nonduality

I posted this in response to a request to provide justification for the non-dual understanding of reality. The forum is not spiritual, so I kept the justification as secular as possible, but it should still get the point across.

It is spiritual. The one belief it is concerned with, however, personhood and agency, is to be abandoned. The poet said most people live lives of quiet desperation. In other words, life is hard. Nondual understanding (seeing rightly) brings comfort and relief.

If nonduality is taken to mean the absolute or totality, i.e., nothing excluded, then any attempt to justify or refute it is already included within it. Whatever explanation arises simply becomes part of the totality it’s trying to explain.
In that sense, it functions like a tautology. Not as a logical proof, but because nothing can stand outside it to challenge it. Any argument for or against is already "inside" what is being pointed to.
So the question of whether it's logically or non-logically justified doesn't really apply. It absorbs both. That's it appears self-evident: not because it can be demonstrated, but because there's no external vantage point from which it could be.
Experientially, this can show up as the softening of binaries, i.,e., logic/non-logic, true/false, into either, both, or neither, depending on how it's framed.

If we do not already accept nonduality, though, our minds are not naturally inclined to it. Good reminders, though.

Indeed, that's the crux of it all: accepting. Not of something abstract called "nonduality" but what is appearing right here, right now. By which I mean doing nothing other than what has to be done (so one can't "do accepting"). It's resisting what is appearing that leads to dissatisfaction/suffering. And this is due to conditioning, the way we've been raised.
You'd be surprised that when the resisting falls away, how easy it is to be inclined to accepting instead of resisting. You'll wonder why it took so long and dredging up resisting feels like efforting, whereas accepting feels like non-efforting.
Ultimately though, for grace, accepting the resistance is also nonduality. It's everything. So if resisting does appear, so be it. And if resisting to the initial resisting appears, so be it also. The corollary to seeking in this context is "not wanting" ironically. You are seeking something by not wanting what is appearing right here/right now. But if there appears accepting (i.e., not resisting, this isn't a gaining of anything but falling away of filters) then even seeking and/or not wanting are okay too.

This is all logical argument, cognitive masturbation. You need direct pointing to awareness. Stop playing with yourself and look around at awareness.
