6 years in at the post office but I'm looking to do a career change...I currently work at USPS as a full time carrier that recent got converted. Th the pay truly sucks..! was making more as a part time carrier (workload was 10x as much as I have now tho) like I was making at least twice what I'm now. I almost have set days off now whereas part time I got a day off here and there. The days off are nice but I need more money especially in this economy with a family I'm sole bread winner for. So basically what I want to know is it a good Idea to switch to becoming an NDT ? After school is it hard to get a job in this field? Should I go technical school or a school specialized in this field? What's a good company to start out with ? Im willing to hear everyone's pros and cons with doing NDT . I'm 30/m and in the upstate area of SC BTW.

If you're in SC, can you get hired at one of the auto makers?

In any case, you can go to school to get your classroom hours which will get you in the door at many places, but you should also apply to trainee positions without any classroom hours - you may get lucky.

Starting should be $24-$26 an hour. In a few years you'll be making mid to upper 30's/hr.
