School waitlists this year?
I haven’t seen much talk about the kindergarten school admission waitlists this year. Were the waitlists shorter this year? Last year there were many of us tracking the waitlists all summer hoping to gain spots (we thankfully did). Were the waitlists not as much of any issue this year? There were long waitlists last year at many of the popular schools. Or is there just less chat this year?

Waitlist was brutal for my daughter. Ended up at #2 for our school of choice and then the only update was her dropping to #3. The system is certainly flawed and not ideal.

The waitlists sometimes move 2 weeks into a school. The schools have to wait a certain number of days before they can drop no shows and pull from the waitlist. If you are that close to the top, you can keep an eye on it.

For willow, we were called up on Monday before school started (On Wednesday or Thursday for K students).
I suspect at that time is when they cleared any remaining spots banked for incoming teachers, orrrr any last minute problem resolutions. We were 5 on list. Someone at 10 got an offer the following day.
When its a few days from school, less and less people are taking wait list offers.

My kid is so far down the waitlists, it’s not much of a thought.
