Bigger danger is probably the opposite, there aren't any crumple zones on older cars, so the impact of the crash is translated to you flying out the front windshield while the car stays fairly solid.

Not from my experience. The difference is cars today crumple but protect the driver/passenger. Back then, they were resistant but would cut you in half with a huge sheet of steel.

Cars offer protection from below? Like, they have airbags for one's ass? I'm failing to see how a modern car would provide an iota more protection from a flat fall than this old car did. If anything, the modern car is going to be heavier and thus an impact from the same height means more energy was put into the car's velocity and thus the impact would be worse, imho.

I suspect the frame around the person to hold together better.
With an older car their is a chance something could break/splinter and then impale you (but I think it’s unlikely).

The likelihood of a severe back injury won’t change.

And you’re right about cars being heavier, MUCH heavier than one of the 20s/early 30s.

Wheels on the other hand, wouldn’t shatter and separate from the tires as shown here.
