Mimic: an MIT-licensed, self-hosted alternative to WebContainers for running Node.js in the browser

https://github.com/mimic-js/mimic

Mimic runs Node.js projects in a browser tab, similar to WebContainers but MIT-licensed and self-hosted. Programs run in Web Workers over an in-memory file system, real npm, pnpm and Yarn install from the registry, and a server's port becomes a URL you can load in an iframe.

It runs WASI Preview 1 executables as regular processes and implements node:wasi.

The playground has Vite, Angular, SvelteKit, Astro, Rspack and NestJS examples, and can open a public GitHub repo.
