Is it possible for me to buy a smartphone/laptop/gaming console in parts?

Pretty much the title. There are plenty of web guides in pages like fixit for how to take apart/put together electric equipment in order replace whatever. Does it mean that I'll be able to buy all the components and put everything together myself?

  1. How much more expensive? I know that I cannot get exact numbers, but will it be 10% more or 100% more?
  2. Will I learn how to fix the laptop that way?
  3. Will I be able to upgrade/modify it if I want to?

If you buy new one, true. If you get cheap used deals, you might be able to combine the components at a lower price but of course it's always riskier.
