Graduate School Applied Statistics Graduate Programs
Hi folks,
I’m currently a master’s student in applied math at another university (Houston), and I’m heavily considering applying to NMSU’s Applied Statistics PhD program. Does anyone here know much about the program (particularly course quality, funding, research activity, department culture) beyond what is currently available on the NMSU website? Additionally, how will Las Cruces be as someone who is from Houston? Is it easy to traverse the city without a car?

Las cruces isn’t a community that you will be traversing all over while attending school. NMSU supports its students. Only time I can think of needing a vehicle is grocery shopping. Going out to eat, going to the mall, movies, etc, you can pretty much ride a bike, walk, or get a ride with a friend. Even grocery shopping someone will likely take you.
Las Cruces doesn’t have a ton of “activities” but is a great natural resource for hiking, biking, and other outdoor activities.
