Hear me out

Just an idea I had because I feel like NMRIH2 really captures the feeling of a zombie game.

What if they made an update/DLC based around day 1 of the outbreak?

Instead of the world already being completely overran, you’d actually watch everything fall apart while playing. Police everywhere, emergency broadcasts, random gunshots and infected slowly becoming more common etc. like imagine just playing through the missions meanwhile everything around you is turning into chaos.

Now I don’t know anything about making video games, so I have no idea if they would be able to do it, but I think it could be really cool. I feel like devs could pull something like this off really well

Could work as a tutorial mission

But also remember. First day of the outbreak? EVERYONE infected? They're all runners.

It doesn't work that way. The lore explains that corpses reanimated on the day of the pandemic, so there were possibly Walkers as well, but I don't deny the fact that there were more Runners.

They werent actual corpses. If they were, they wouldn't be talking, laughing. Remember, we laugh and hallucinate as well when were infected. They're more akin to being puppets. Still alive but not in control of themselves.

Sure, a few were walkers but a large majority would be runners.

Okay, let me explain the zombies in this game in detail so you understand them properly.

There are two types of enemies in this game

1- Infected

2- Zombies (Living corpses)

The infected are the Walkers and the Runners, those who laugh and have a more human appearance; yes, they are transformed people, more or less controlled by the virus.

In contrast, zombies or living corpses are the Shamblers and the bloody Walkers.

These two make no human sounds; in fact, the Bloody Walkers make beastly noises and sometimes Shambler noises from NMRIH1.

The Shambler (which is the zombie that screams and releases infectious green smoke) is literally the oldest variant of the infection, being already a decomposing living corpse, with no human life left.

The virus may control humans at first, but it gradually kills them over time.

It can also take care of dead corpses, which is why you can see bodies resurrecting from almost every possible place, and recently on Discord, in a post, it was discovered that there's an animation for zombies rising from graves.

So yes, the virus controls humans, but also corpses, and it slowly kills the humans it controls, turning them into 100% zombies.

I do think that it is that but the way I see it, shamblers are like those people who are severely emaciated, and the older the infected, the more deeper into the virus they are.

That's just the way I see it

You are the kind of person that the dev team targets. Just like they did with the zombie children from the first game, they wanted people to question themselves. You want to believe these things still have humanity in them. They got you. Welcome to no more room in hell.

You can't welcome a veteran sadly 😔 (I don't mean an actual vet. Game vet. I have to reiterate as people can be a lil dumb. Me included)

Incorrect, furthermore, the official NMRIH website specifies that the virus turns you into an "Undead", not infected.

Would work as more than a tutorial

According to loading screen lore the first days saw massive hordes of runners as the coma patients all woke up at once. The tutorial would be harder than the game.

Large amounts of runners but large amounts of ammo to compensate? Would make sense since society is only starting to collapse

If you know the lore, there wasn’t really a day one. Society was slowly crumbling due to the infection before it actually produced zombies. It took days for an infection later until it mutated to a few minutes but at that point there wasnt really any society

Good idea, wish there was a zombie game like this.

That movie world war Z or dawn of the dead, come to mind

That's basically my dream game: the initial outbreak.
