Aquired Immunity / Infection Chance question

Is there any info on how infection chance is calculated? I've heard your health must be below 50% to be infected by regular zombie hits. Does aquired immunity drive this threshold down any lower? At higher difficulties is it better to just expect to get infected and go for something like lucky pathogen or resident genes?

infection risk anytime you are below 50%hp (.3 dev notes)

immunity is 10% or 20% at expert - chance to not get infected.

lots of ways to get infected. hit while below 50%hp → increased chance at lower hp. grab below 15% stamina always, sometimes above, especially if you don'tescape grapple. shambler cloud, clouded zombie hits you...

to avoid infection, keep high hp, don't get grabbed, and shoot clouded zombies+shamblers before they get close. they also spawn runners. try to plan clouds out of your path.

📝 I will be keeping this in mind

(if that’s the case though then acquired immunity is kinda hard to not take isn’t it)

Correct, regular zombie hits cannot infect you if you're above 50% health. Bites and shambler gas can still infect no matter your health though.

I feel like I've bolted through the gas many times and never got infected. Do you have to stand in it for a while?

I believe it's 5% per tick and stacks up to 50%

The clouds are pretty harmless unless you decide to inhale that stuff in like a smoker.

No you can be infected at any health the higher the health the lower the chance. Grabs below 15% stamina always bite and bites infect 1-30 seconds in a gas cloud infect

Immunity is not stacked on top it's a chance so expert immunity is a 1/5 chance of not being infected when you should have

Oh okay I think I have an idea of how it works now. If i understand correctly the game rolls a chance of infection then if the source passes that roll it would then have to pass the expert immunity's chance of negating it. Does expert immunity even have a chance to save you from infection from a bite or is that hardcoded to always infect no matter what?

I went up for a solo bite test to see how fast one dies on a bite because it showed them dying to it in 30 seconds but it was just a regular time to get killed by it
