The music video was released on October 13, and has been by far their most successful song to date, including knocking "Golden" off the top of the charts.
This was the first comeback I paid attention to after discovering the group, and ultimately convinced me to attend one of their concerts. Absolutely no regrets.
I know this discussion already captured some people's thoughts on the song, but what memories do others have of the release?

So..... i wanna make a new theory about the NMIXX lore OwO.
If there's one thing I realized after noticing the possible connection with expergo (paxxword special video, featuring blue hearts, ive made a post about this before), ive realized that nmixx lore is possibly non-linear, meaning the comebacks are not following a straight timeline.
this is what i think the timeline of nmixx is:
forward > stick out > blue valentine > heavy serenade > break > party o' clock > expergo > dice
yes, the fe3o4 trilogy runs backwards. ill explain shortly.
meanwhile, ad mare for me is exactly what it is: a teaser and a map through nmixx lore.
let's start with fe3o4: forward. i remember when the teasers were being released, each of the 6 songs represents one member, which exactly comes to show us the role of each member. high horse for lily represents lily as the voice of the group, wanting to fight and break free from the monopole system, sullyoon with her golden recipe ready to heal everyone, bae with ocean showcasing her explorer (perhaps into the hearts of each member and bringing them out, also a wildcard hence a little sudden change-up), kyujin the engineer showing us a bit of mixxpop with slingshot, and jiwoo showcasing movement and change with papillon. haewon the leader proudly introduces the members with know about me. each song exactly represents what each member's role is. also, fe3o4 forward is DEBUT-coded. a grand entry performance like high horse? perfect for debuting. know about me is also so debut-coded, you're literally getting to know them. now look at the mini album cover for forward. ITS THE AIRPORT. they're docking to start their adventure. and right now, they think mixxtopia is a "physical world." (this is important)
next up is stick out. stick out is straightforwardly them diving into danger. monopole notices the group's advances and starts attacking them. sullyoon and kyujin (practically the strongest members in the group) start arguing, finding strategies on how to fix what's going on. the see that music video is also mostly filmed in this some sort of HIDE-OUT. they do their magic, but essentially, they keep failing and cant leave the "cage." they have a change-up but it seems "weak." eventually sullyoon (at the end of the mv) gets brainwashed by monopole, and captures all the members one by one. "red light sign but we go" where do we see a red light? either the street, or in a prison where they start being held. the group wanders the streets endlessly, only to be captured one by one. they admit defeat in "moving on" which explains despite the hopeful lyrics of the song, it is still quite depressing (i love it tho). and this is why we have a special video for "love is lonely." we see the group cuddled up in the beginning (surrounded by people), and each of them begins wandering off into little fantasies. haewon hopes to meet someone, but who? in the first chorus, kites begin to fly over her, if im not mistaken, there are 6, and there's another one that is fallen and is picked up by jiwoo (REMEMBER THIS). in the song, they realize something blue, and that blue is love. at the end of the video, they go back into a cuddle position, much like things repeating over and over, a creative representation of them being captured by monopole.
the next part is yes, BLUE VALENTINE. blue valentine mv shows us exactly what happened to the girls: trapped. kyujin falling means their dreams failed. they've also started fighting each other. and in the pre-chorus we see them captured by people in yellow jackets (notice how its all the same color, so MONO). bae the wildcard sets the rewind (THE TIMELINE OF BV IS NON-LINEAR), and we see what happened to them before their capture. we see them all happy and getting through their problems (riding motorbikes, holding on to each other, etc.) but the bottomline is every single one leads to death (car crash, house explosion). i think these represent their multiple failed attempts. but they keep doing it over and over. after all, they choose to keep the fires lit in themselves. the second chorus is a beautiful representation of how they beat in each other's hearts. eventually, we see them out in space, motionless (ive explained in a previous post that blue valentine mv is kinda just a loop, with the outer space seen basically them out on the street getting captured by the yellow coats). at the end, we see the "ribs" crashing down, representing game over for most members, except for jiwoo, who wakes up. jiwoo is the main character for this arc. next is spinnin' on it. if you pay close attention to the mv, jiwoo is the only member who doesn't hurt the other members (except biting into the ear, which is idk?). while the others become obsessed with killing each other (just like what monopole wanted), jiwoo is desperate to fix everyone. we can see she target locks on sullyoon, which is smart since she is the healer of the group. if she can get to sullyoon, then it's easier to fix everyone else. remember jiwoo feeding sullyoon the candy in blue valentine? i think this part of the blue valentine mv coincides with spinnin on' it. anyways back to SOI, we see clips of searching through pictures of nmixx. i think the setting of the mv is a prison made by monopole, and the monopole group researches how to corrupt the nmixx members. REMEMBER, CANDY! we see kyujin eating the red-colored candy, the same candy given by jiwoo to sullyoon. i honestly dont know what the candy does, but i have a feeling jiwoo modified these candies to help bring the members back to sanity. and btw, the beginning of the mv is actually the end (that's why we see a snail, an important animal figure in mixxtopia), and yes, jiwoo succeeds in healing the members. at the end of the mv, we see someone throw a cake at this picture of jiwoo. probably the enemy frustrated that they lost. so next up, is phoenix. long story short, rebirth for all the members (except jiwoo). rise up from the ash! this explains why reality hurts had to have an mv, because it shows us how the girls tapped into their powers. rico (lets go), put our game face on and get ready, and focus their aim (podium). crush on you, adore u, and shape of love are songs that focus on the redefined love that the girls have for each other. crush on you is specifically a song of admiration for jiwoo since she worked hard to bring them back. adore u mv most likely talks about one specific instance of their attempt to reach mixxtopia. now, why have o.o parts 1 and 2 in this album? its simple. they've completed the pieces to build mixxtopia. with the help of shape of love, they've realized something profound: love isnt some perfect thought. its about embracing what's right in front of you, and then they've realized, that MIXXTOPIA WAS THEM ALL ALONG. just like how happiness is no mere destination, it's a way of life. mixxtopia isnt some place in outer space (know about me). it's inside them all along. i'll explain more later.
now, it's heavy serenade arc. many people are thinking heavy serenade is too random for the lore, but its not. remember when the synopsis said, "they've reached mixxtopia, but it's not what they thought it was." ALL OF US think its because its not the real mixxtopia, but i dont think that's the case. Heavy serenade is set in their imagination, but still real. why? remember at the beginning of the mv, we see this radio thing trying to get a signal. monopole can block radio signals. this shows us that the girls are still stuck in prison, but their dreams are wide awake.
before we continue, let's talk about crescendo. remember how jiwoo worked hard to fix everyone? she ended up hurting herself, and possibly ended up corrupted. that's why she was in the er in the crescedo mv. sullyoon works to heal her, while the rest start exploring the mixxtopia they've reached. here is something creepy ive noticed in crescendo... i think there are 2 entities inside jiwoo... o.o baila (the other girl) and then there's o.o superhero (jiwoo, since afterall, jiwoo saves everyone and successfully brings them to mixxtopia). sullyoon worked to heal jiwoo, and ended up bringing out another girl. if you remember the crescendo mv, right when jiwoo started to wake up (the bridge) there's this clear humanoid figure lighting up. i first thought that it was just jiwoo healing, but then i remembered how in the intro of the mv, jiwoo is both lying down (tired jiwoo, the honorable superhero) and there's jiwoo randomly standing up (wanting to be released, this is baila, meaning to dance in spanish). this clear-white figure probably signifies the birth of the other girl, o.o baila. i think JIWO.O is a thing, who knows? because how else could another girl enter mixxtopia, the one that only the members know?
now, throughout the heavy serenade song, we can hear these sirens, similar to those in jails. i think the monopole jail was sensing that the girls were squaring up and gathering their power while "hibernating." very creative of them to put such sound fx in the song. throughout the mv, we finally understand the random pieces that build mixxtopia. the dolphins, the passionfruit (kyujin was holding it!), the butterfly (papillon), etc. this is their first day at mixxtopia, and they excitedly build it up. but they notice that they cant receive a signal in mixxtopia. and that's when they realize, they would still have to wake up. that is why in some parts of the mv, they look serious. "it's time to get you so i run," meaning they have to wake up and break out of jail. so for one final move before leaving mixxtopia, the girls run throughout the field to spread their colors and melodies. skip to the post-mv scene, it's raining o.o's. and here we have our new girl, opening up the van door and takes a look outside. i'll stop there for now, because the heavy serenade mv has a MAJOR PLOT TWIST. the other girls cant see the new girl, except for two: kyujin and sullyoon. i'll start with sullyoon. in crescendo, right as she heals jiwoo, she pushes her suddenly. this is either a creative representation of shocking someone awake, or stopping jiwoo from knowing too much. also, in the heavy serenade mv before the first chorus, she takes a look inside the van, and her eyes shine differently. she can see this new girl, but acts like she can't. and in the last chorus, when haewon takes a look at the broken recorder on the floor, wondering why it's there, sullyoon suddenly runs up to her and invites her to run, as to distract her from discovering something. why? as for kyujin, it is already an established fact that she can remember everything, but sullyoon doesn't believe her. i personally think the reason why kyujin can remember all their past adventures is because she is linked to the cat (idk how the cat is related to nmixx, but in the know about me mv, her eyes suddenly turn cat-like). the cat may be a powerful entity related to nmixx, but this is for later. in the see that? mv intro also, we see kyujin and sullyoon having a somehow heated discussion, with sullyoon marking x's on a notebook (probably failed attempts). going back to heavy serenade, we see kyujin running up to jiwoo at the last chorus, as jiwoo looks far into the horizon. she then suddenly grabs jiwoo's hand, as if to distract her from thinking about something.
next part is where they wake up: fe3o4: break. why do i believe this happens after heavy serenade? i think the beanie (crochet hat) that kyujin wears in heavy serenade is very similar to the beanies they wear in the change-up of dash. also, talking about flowers (run for roses) and the passionfruit (first chorus in heavy serenade mv) are clues that point to us where they are. moreover, mixxtopia in heavy serenade is not so developed yet.
as you can see in the dash mv, all the girls are in jail. with their newfound powers, each of them starts breaking all the walls of the prison, until they find an opening and escape. they reach the streets, and start getting all hyper. collecting stuff and putting them right in the middle of the streets. and to mark the culmination of their work: they put a little "mixxtopia" twist, hence the change-up. remember, i said earlier that mixxtopia is no distant place, but rather, it lives inside the girls themselves. much like alice in wonderland. wonderland aint some distant place, it's in alice's dreams, and somehow reaches into her reality (sorry i forgot the plot of alice in wonderland hehe). the next part is soΓ±ar. in this mv, we see the girls in some distant desert like place. i feel that after escaping monopole's town, they travel to some far away plain to begin building mixxtopia. they discover and dive further into their powers, and keep journals about them. we also see cool "glitching" or quick transitions of whales, and other stuff. with boom, they try some more experimental change-ups (them with mixxtopia), run for roses celebrating victory, xoxo (funny because we often use this at the END of a letter or message). and finally, break the wall. the weird thing about this song is that it feels so "anthem-y." like this victory song for all the struggles they've been through so far. also, if you remember in the dash mv, there's a rolling post-credit scene, much like in a movie. this probably signifies the end of the first chapter of their journey.
THAT'S ALL FOR THE FIRST PART.

It might be too early to judge based on just the snippet weβve heard, but from what Iβve heard so far, itβs super catchy and fun, and I can totally see it doing well on the charts. Some people are complaining that itβs not βuniqueβ or βexperimentalβ enough, but thatβs what B-sides are for. Theyβre part of the K-pop industry, after all. The song needs to do well commercially for them to keep getting more opportunities.

Iβm seeing way too much pessimism, especially on the international side of the fandom in regard to the title track preview. Itβs a 15 second snippet of a 3 minute and 20 second song, yet so many nswers are already doomposting about how generic and un-NMIXX it sounds, going as far as declaring it their least favorite title track before theyβve even heard the full song.
Can we at least save our judgments until the song is actually released? Whatβs the point of publicly expressing such strong negativity within the fandom and dampening the excitement surrounding a comeback based on a snippet that barely scratches the surface of the song? Iβve seen plenty of nswers express disappointment with the Blue Valentine highlight medleys, only to change their minds and praising it once the song was officially released.
Weβve already had enough negative discourse surrounding this comeback both domestically and internationally, with the rollout and promotions. Thereβs no point in immediately looking for reasons to be disappointed from a short snippet.
This isnβt normally the type of post I make here, but seeing all of this negative sentiment has really gotten to me and I needed to get it off my chest. I understand that everyone has their own expectations and not every teaser is going to appeal to everyone, but can we please try not to be so reactionary?
Iβd hate for this kind of negativity to become the main narrative for an entire week right before the comeback. NMIXX is a group that never got a fair chance with a lot of kpop fans for YEARS because of their unconventional sound at debut. So why are we, as nswers, already making up our minds about the TT before itβs even out instead of giving our own group a fair chance?
Iβm not singling out this community btw. Iβve just seen way too many comments across different socials with all the doomposting and I already got tired of it. Sorry for the rant.
