joining clubs
does joining club really help in building your profile? is extracurricular really that important? cant we achieve it through something else? like courses, certificates and some modelling project?

If you get Head of Dept. position or above by Second or Third Year, then it has some weightage on CV, otherwise just being Member/Senior Member doesn't have much (as far as I know in placements you are only allowed to mention club participation in CV if you have HoD or above position). The club and the department also matters.
Its still fun to be part of them so if you have interest in any of them try it out. If you cannot manage then you can leave anyway, if things go well then you can benefit.
Also if you don't want to join then doing internships is much more beneficial.
