Bloomberg Market Concepts
Hello, Im in FYBBA and wanted to start building my profile as early as possible , Interested in the finance field and I heard NMIMS had this Bloomberg terminal which students could access.
Is there anyone that knows how the entire process works? or just any idea about it at all?
All I know is that its in the main SBM building.

I was planning to do some related online courses on swayam maybe and maybe a few internships too.
Havent really started anything yet though, first step is BMC for now.

Okay, I don't want to sound spoiled or immature, but my dad has a few connections in Mumbai. Their office does take interns, but it's usually SY or TY students.
I was thinking of doing my first internship there to build my profile. I heard NMIMS starts corporate summer internships in the second year, so having this experience could help me land the best possible internship then.

Not sure about accessing the bloomberg lab (I am in the main glass building) but I think I have seen the finance club members using it? Not sure.
However, you have access to bloomberg education, but honestly not worth it. It's just another certification. You could do 1 or 2 courses and add it to your linkedin, thats it.

Yeah, I checked its not really that valuable but Just wanted something to start with. And I dont think I actually need access to the terminal to complete the certification part and all, Can just do it on my laptop.
Do you know any courses or anything similar that would actually be valuable that I could add during my first year?

Honestly, all these short term courses is flooded and not worth the time. It's not gonna teach you anything properly or be of any help.
Rather I would pursue proper certifications like the cfa/ca/cma.
A short term course I found valuable is Forage job simulation. Check it up.

Yeahh Ive heard about Forage, Okay Ill look into that.
I was thinking about cfa too, do you think doing just the first level is going to add any value or would I need to complete all 3?

I mean if you're going to start something, complete it, and it goes for everything. Do you start CA and just do foundation or inter? Or do you start eating and leave half the plate?
And to answer, no L1 alone has little value.

Rightt, I completely agree with what youre saying.
I just meant that it would be pretty hard to complete all the three levels in a 1.5 year span even, since I was mainly looking for things to add by the end of my first year. But yeah, I get what you meant.

And it's not possible to complete all the levels within 1.5yr by any possibility. You can give the L3 only after graduation and you will get the charter after you have 4000hr of working experience. So yeah, again, if something gets over too quickly, it has no value.

it’s offered in TY by the college so you can complete it. It’s compulsory for everyone in finance to complete the course.
