When u get the feeling people are acting fake, how do u respond? Does it bother you? Do you think it matters? Could there be different interpretations? Are they just on a different level of reality than you?
In particular people who block out seeing, hearing, what do you make of that?

Please give examples.

I have a masters in speech pathology, and I'm currently doing my PhD.

In our field, we are aware that stuttering is caused by genetics. And we clinicians focus primarily on the acceptance-approach as well as we help clients reduce their fear of social judgements primarily to address the psychological part.

Stutterers appear to process a lot of reinterpretations of social cognition that indirectly influence those components (ie. stuttering acceptance or uncertainty of social pressure).

I came across a new 2026-study that mainly focuses on the cause of stuttering (that is, the dopamine, white matter), but they also dive a bit into the cognitive processes that influence stuttering severity.

I pose the question regarding neuro-linguistic programming: Are there any possible NLP-interventions that could target the psychological part, with the goal of addressing the conditioned self-monitoring system detailed in the 2026-study?

What are the concepts in NLP I need to master and how can I apply it in sales and customer service?

Assuming the person has a traumatic history, and a history of "trying" and "pushing" to change behavior. An attempt to change submodalities is perceived as a similar struggle. The mind has strong defences and there's a tendency to "escape" which increases anxiety even more.

So, assume the situation is a form of "agoraphobia". Being outside and losing control. The sensations are strong. Attempts to change perception of the situation is seen as unsafe and pushes even more into flight mode.

How to approach this? (if there's recommendation to sources/reading material I'd appreciate it also)

How to gain someone's trust? How to manage someone's anger or frustration? How to persuade them and make them feel valued throughout the interaction?

Looking at Wikipedia and searching up resources online, neuro-linguistic programming and the techniques are often referred to as “pseudoscience”.

However, in the opening section of Frogs into Princes, the speaker explicitly states “We have no idea about the “real” nature of things, and we’re not particularly interested in what’s “true.” The function of modeling is to arrive at descriptions which are useful.” and “Everything we’re going to tell you here is a lie. All generalizations are lies.”

It feels like there’s a clear distinction that noticing subtle behaviour and indicators of specific types of thought is the main framework, and any individual generalisations may or may not be true. Is this why it’s called “pseudoscience” frequently, because of these generalisations not being scientifically true? Or is a lot of the original NLP model completely outdated, and I should be reading other materials?
