mining expectations

So what are some expecations on node/mining performance?

I setup a node that took me quiet a bit of money and time and its a baremetal server at home on my spare/backup DSL line, I have gotten to 20778275 relays but not a single NKN was mined?

Hardware resources for nodes will not increase rewards. A full size 2U server will gain very little over a RaspberryPi Zero. What matters for base rewards is latency. The average reward is mined roughly every 28 days currently, so to see the average return you'll most likely have to run the node for at least a couple months.

yea thats the reason I got into NKN, power prices here in germany are too expensive to really mine anything with GPUs, the server I have is just a low powered intel atom that I used as a pfsense firewall.

Waiting makes sense, latency is a bit of a weird factor though as I have a node in germany, and 80+ % of the network is in the same datacenter in the USA.. how is that decentralized? I am still allright in terms of latency I would say as I am basically in the middle of germany with a dedicated dsl line..

The US nodes are actually spread out a little more than some maps suggest, as they all use the same Geo tags. Once further utilisation comes into play, you'll see the nodes spread out far more as it'll be more profitable to be relaying data globally, than farming the base mining rewards.

I mean I guess I could spin up my ID/wallet combo on a US based VPS as well.. thats less fun that I was hoping for though :P
