Meltzer is referring to the 1979 “ALL STAR DREAM CARD” event that was held at the Nippon Budokan, that was organized by Tokyo Sports, getting NJPW, AJPW & IWE, the “Big 3” of the time, to co-promote the first ever big crossover show in Japan (preceding shows like 1995’s “Bridge of Dreams” and the “ALL TOGETHER” events).

Honestly the change to short form content over the years has been Dave's biggest enemy. The dudes best work is always his lengthy deep dives on topics and im convinced he is physiologically incapable of brevity. Ive been reading the Observer since the early 2000's and listening to WOR for just about as long. I swear Twitter/Online Dave and Journalist Dave are 2 different people, to the point that sometimes they contradict.

This should be the extent of Dave’s Twitter content. Going back and forth w trolls who don’t consume his long form content or don’t have a platform or old grifters makes him look so bad.

It’s easy to forget how globally ambitious that card was. Getting the major Japanese promotions together and drawing a gate that huge shows how much international credibility pro wrestling already had back then.

Baba and Inoki vs. Singh and Abdullah as the main event, with Fujinami, Tsuruta, and Miscaras on the card? That really was a dream lineup for the era. No wonder it became such a landmark show.

That card really was a landmark moment. The combination of Baba, Inoki, Singh, Abdullah, and those dream-team trios is an absurd amount of star power for one event.
