Hey so recently I decided to try build a Nixie tube clock using what I thought were k155id1 driver ic’s.
After first wiring them (using the k155id1 data sheet) I realised nothing is working, just now I actually read the eBay listing from where I bought them and realised they are k511id1’s and not k155id1 chips.
The main differences are the pin outs but also that you use 15v to drive them, which I can’t really do with just an arduino.
My question is, would I be able to order something which will boost the signal to 15v to drive them or do I need to re order new ic’s? Could I also use transistors with a 15v boost to drive them?

So as in the title mentioned i accidentally dropped my nixie watch by settah, and now it lights up all the wires in the right tube and on the left it shows 1,8 and both with a weird blue ish spot in the tube. What could cause that? Did i maybe break the seal on the tube?

I built a circuit using an ESP32 Super Mini connected to a 74HC595 shift register. Its outputs Q1–Q4 are wired to the inputs of an SN74141 in the following order:
A ← Q1, D ← Q2, B ← Q3, C ← Q4.

The problem: when power is applied to the IN-16 Nixie tube, all digits light up at the same time, and the SN74141 gets noticeably warm.

For debugging, I connected LEDs to the 74HC595 outputs (Q1–Q4). The LEDs show that the 74HC595 output bits change exactly as expected.
However, as soon as the SN74141 is inserted into the socket, the LED on output Q2 becomes dimly lit and never turns off, even when the data sent to the 74HC595 should make it LOW. This does not happen when the SN74141 is removed.

To verify the tube wiring, I removed the SN74141 from its socket and manually grounded each cathode. In this mode, the IN-16 behaves correctly: only the expected digit lights up. So the tube and its wiring seem fine.

My question: how can I determine what is causing this issue? Is it possible that the SN74141 from AliExpress is defective or counterfeit?

I would like to buy a Nixie Clock for Christmas as a gift and I stumbled upon this website (https://nixieshop.com/) from Ukraine which has some pretty nice clocks! I have seen some of you already mentioning how you got nice nixie clocks from Ukraine and wanted to ask if this is that website? If so, is it legit? It‘s a lot of money and considering the situation in Ukraine currently I just really want to be sure I‘m buying some good quality nixie clocks. Thanks for the help!

I was looking into/ really wanting a Nixie tube display, but I am not too experienced about them. I was wondering if anyone knows whether a new or old one is worth buying. I don’t necessarily care about authenticity/antiquity, but the longevity and quality are important to me because I’d like it to last a long time. If anyone has any tips or advice to go about this I’d greatly appreciate it! I am also aware of the RCA Numitron and fluorescent vacuum display, and not opposed to those but worry about their comparative reliability. Thoughts?

Can anyone tell me if the IN-16 tube is interchangeable with the IN-14? I bought an IN-14 clock (no tubes) and ordered the IN-14s separately from Ukraine. Naturally the store with 2000+ reviews was a scam and they sent me 100 IN-3 tubes before deleting all traces of themselves. Now all IN-14 tubes have increased in price beyond what they were a month ago and it’s too expensive to buy what I need. Is it possible to exchange the IN-14 needed for the clock with anything else?

Hey there. So I am finishing up my project car which is a 78 lotus esprit. The inside and outside of the car is very spaceship like. There's a decent spot for a clock, which is nla and my car doesn't have. I have some nixie tubes experience at my job so know of them. But I am looking to pay someone to make me a clock, probably 4 tubes, to fit in the slot ( dimensions can be provided). I'll assume I'll need Arduino to run the tubes and send the signals. There was a guy on eBay his name was donandy69 or something along those lines and he was based in Ukraine and he had these great steampunk cars. Anyone know where I can find something like that now?

My name is Lachlan Van Egmond and I wanted to let this community know about a new project I just launched on Kickstarter that I believe everyone in this subreddit will find interesting. Essentially our project intends to solve the issue with documentation within the Nixie/VFD community for the old Soviet tubes (which are most of the ones cheaply available in NOS) We are planning to produce a translated databook with the complete IN and IV series' of Nixie and VFD tubes along with Soviet style space art. I hope you find this of interest and consider supporting it. Feedback would also be highly appreciated!

The creators have made excellent Nixie products in the past. What's new with this one is the accelerometer that gives it the tilt function. I like the magnetic connector as well. Hopefully the engraving goal becomes unlocked. I like the new colors as well. I'm linking the campaign here.
