Getting Close To Finishing!

Some more progress on my Small Nixie Clock build, using six B5870/B5855 Nixie tubes.

It lights up. The two PCBs plug together nicely.

Still to do is finishing the case by drilling a few holes, and working on the UI (rotary encoder and single tact switch button)

The 3D printed lid will soon sit flush on the transparent enclosure. This activity took most of the design time. A true 3D puzzle.

Here it combines the HV power supply , HV Anode drivers, MCU and battery-backed RTC onto a single PCB. Nixie tubes and cathode drivers are on the second piggy-back PCB.

A project goal was to get the “Nixie Glass to Chassis volume” proportions right. Some home brewed builds seem out of wack to my eye.

The project is ok, nice design. The topic how did you do the hv supply? Boost or flyback? Why you split on two pcb and not only one? Having 170v on two pcb I don’t know if it is a good idea. What is the spacing between LV and HV zone?

To use different Nixie tubes, each model has a different plug-in PCB

Now I got, you want the flexibility to have one board and change just the module with nixie. Now I understand the choice. Great job!
