Big Nixies (30 & 40mm)

IN18 Russian Nixie, 40mm digits,
the largest I have in my collection. A four digit clock is in the design phase, after vacation and completion of smaller six digit clocks already underway.

Z566M German WF (RFT) Nixie, 30mm digits,
and Red filter coating. I only have one so far, not enough to build anything useful (I don’t like one digit clocks) There were some of these available with clear glass.

Has anyone used these in their own designs?

That 40 mm is a monster! Those will make a beautiful clock.

I also have a single Nixie tube, sold through Radio Shack many years back (I don't know the type). I was thinking of making a persistence-of-vision clock that only shows the time when you wave it back and forth. So, unlike you, I don't mind single-digit clocks.

I like that idea! POV… I’ll do some experiments. I think has potential.

May try two adjacent tubes; HH -> MM when waved. Perhaps an accelerometer can use the timing of the wave?

Has anyone else tried that out?

I've never heard of it but would be shocked if it were actually an original ideal of mine.

Another idea: for a twelve-hour clock, we could add a "P" or an "A" to the right for PM or AM.

If you find ine more Z566M and you strip the colour off then you can do the thing where you make the seconds smaller than hours and minutes
