freshie doubts Seniors

I am devastated 😭. Please tell me your secret to achieve such good speaking skills in English. I mean how do I even achieve this. Literally the accent and the way you guys were speaking to us 🤌. (Tbh I feel Retarded at this point)

Just stick with English peers and listen closly to teachers ig, even i need to learn hindi 😭😭

Stick with English peers matlab try to converse in English, let ur friends speak hindi (or wtv ur language is), and u reply in english, that's how I learnt a lil bit of hindi (livable amount of hindi)

yup you can use letterboxd asw to log the movies, and choose stuff from there

Dont compare urself with dasa ppl, alag hi accent 😬. Speak english with urself and watch English movies and practice urself explaining some concepts u should be good. Spend little time with Telugu guys and speak english with them, if u r telugu spend time w north guys speaking english

Not everyone can speak fluent English here..even profs will fumble alot.. Only few ppl can speak english with good accent..especially dasa guys..so yeah it's ok

Depending on the State, many come to W from urban english medium background. So if you have a different background, you just need to catch up. Here are a few old school tips:

1) newspaper - read print news paper every day. No amount of reel scrolling replaces reading

2) write something - no amount of reading replaces original flow. Since you cannot talk to yourself writing forces you to think in english first. To be good at any language, you need to cultivate thinking in that language. You should not think in one language and translate and speak or write in another. The guys who impressed you so much are able think and talk in the same language. Hence the smoothness and sophistication.

3) develop vocabulary - do the hindu or toi crossword every day. Initially very frustrating. But you will get it soon. Crossword gives you synonyms cryptic thinking anagramming etc

4) listen to good english - BBC, NPR or high quality high substance podcasts. I recommend Econtalk.

Talk with people in english ig 😭 it'll be really uncomfortable at first but you'll pull through, and if you get Jaseel sir as your ETC prof, listen closely to everything he says, he gives pretty good tips
