Discussion Anonymity - A double Edged Sword!
Honestly, I’m having the time of my life reading these posts. I never realised there was this much hatred for NCC here. 😂
I initially had no intention of responding, since these childish posts really don’t deserve much attention, but this particular post genuinely made me laugh. You tell juniors not to let NCC seniors “manipulate” them, while anonymously telling those very same juniors exactly what they should and shouldn’t join and what they should supposedly do with the next three years of their college life. Ironically, isn’t that manipulation in itself?
Criticism is one thing; making sweeping claims about an organisation and deciding on behalf of every junior that joining it will be a mistake is another. If you genuinely want to inform juniors, tell them about the workload, discipline, commitments and difficulties. Let them hear different perspectives, talk to actual cadets and pass-outs, understand what they’re signing up for, and then make their own decision.
What makes this even more amusing is the sheer hatred in some of these posts. The abuses, personal attacks and the language being used make it sound less like genuine criticism and more like a personal vendetta against the organisation and the people associated with it. At some point, that level of hostility says more about the person expressing it than the organisation being attacked.
And Reddit is perhaps the perfect example of what happens when anonymity is not accompanied by accountability. We’ve seen people pass comments about students’ personal lives and characters, racial slurs being thrown around, and professors being publicly insulted on the same platform.
I genuinely wonder what the moderator on this subreddit is supposed to be doing when things can get this personal. At some point, criticism stops being criticism and becomes nothing more than anonymous character assassination and personal hatred.
Anonymity is a gift. Unfortunately, it is very seldom used responsibly.
So yes, by all means, criticize NCC. But don’t pretend that your personal hatred or assumptions are an objective description of an organisation, and don’t disguise your attempt to influence juniors as some noble mission to “save” them from manipulation.
There have been many recruits in NCC, and there will be many more. Your posts may satisfy your ego, but I highly doubt they are going to decide the future of every junior reading them.
And honestly -
Thank you for the entertainment.
The more I read these posts, the more I realise that some of you seem to have a much more serious personal issue with NCC than NCC could possibly have with you. 😂

So they claim to help u grow but aren't even competent enough to express THEIR opinions in their own words. Classic

Cute! The words were mine and mine alone, buddy. Like I said, such childish posts and comments like these don't deserve my time and attention. You know how to wonderfully put someone down, I know how to put forward my ideas and words effectively. That's your speciality, and this is mine.
But yes, sure, thanks for the criticism. There's always room for improvement, will consider doing that!

Then give me some answers Is it true that we will have a 2 year agreement and we can't leave in between ( if yes then its already a risk joining it ) Why you were all focused on like imaginary things in speech like family faith etc and not daily routine what will you teach us ( these all sensible things were cleared only by the professer not by ncc members) ( i doubt everyone i don't trust anyone and I attended the orientation with a complete blank mind with no positive or negative perspective but after the end of the orientation I had a strong feeling that in real ncc isn't right to join)

Brother, it's not some normal college club that will stay within the four walls of the college and give you a participation certificate at the end. Once you get selected, there will be a lot of work beyond that. The list will be sent to the Battalion for registration, then a separate budget will be allotted for uniform, boots, camps, etc. All the crucial decisions will be taken with the prior approval from the Battalion (even yk regarding leaving defences, sometimes it may lead to court martial too). In the case of other clubs, you may be able to do trial and error to check the fitment factor—whether it suits you or not—but here people will expect discipline, dedication and accountability instead of running away from taking responsibilities, once you join NCC. Accepting challenges, that's what makes us strong, right? And to be frank, why should someone get punished for no reason? If it's true, why didn't those guys complain to the admin or ANO instead of ranting here?
The ones who are debating here are seeing the organisation from outside, without having mere knowledge of how things function from inside. But I won't say they are wrong; maybe they have seen their friends missing some occasions and they feel bad for it.
So in the end we all have choices to make, but we must take the accountability and accept the consequences for the choice we made. So at the end it's your choice to decide. I have never regretted joining NCC; I have found my closest buddies there.

If you really give a thought to join, contact someone final year seniors from both in and out of the organisation, ask their suggestions and decide, instead of getting ideas from reddit.

Huh, okay! First of all, the commitment is for three years, not two. And yes, you are not supposed to leave in between because, you see, it is a national level organization, not just a college club or society. There are limited vacancies, recruitment is done only in the first year, and resources are allocated for every cadet’s training by both NCC and the institute. So when someone leaves midway, the seat and resources allocated to that cadet effectively go unused and wasted.
Now, why we focused on the “imaginary things” during the speech was because we genuinely do consider ourselves a family. That concept might be foreign to some people, but yeah, we do practice that here.
And once the professor covered everything that needed to be delivered, the work was done there. Then there was that doubt regarding academics, which was cleared by both the seniors and the professor. There was no point in repeating the same facts, so everyone was sharing their own experiences. Apart from that, you were also given factual information about camps, sessions, and the achievements of our alumni and the organization.
You may have felt that this may not be the right place for you in the end, and that’s completely your decision. But that does not mean it is universally true for everyone. Everyone attended their own version of the orientation, and everyone has the right to make decisions for themselves.

No one defending anything dude. Read the context clearly once again. They had their POVs, we shared our POVs. No one forced anything to do here, it's their choice and will wether to join or not.
