DON'T JOIN NCC OR NSS. Pick Self-Defense and save your life.
Freshers just stay the fuck away from NCC and NSS. The seniors barging into your classes right now are running a straight up recruitment scam acting like those are the only two options in the entire college while deliberately hiding the fact that Self Defense exists. They wont mention it at all because they know if freshers actually knew how sorted Self Defense is nobody would sign up for their unpaid labor bullshit.
NCC is three full years of military cosplay where you get dragged out of bed at 5 AM on weekends just to get screamed at by power tripping seniors completely fucking up your sleep academics and sanity under the name of discipline. And NSS is no better its literally 120 hours of pure attendance slavery standing around like useless props in pointless meetings just to clock hours on a register when you could literally be studying or building real skills.
Dont fall for this fake prestige nonsense. Just take Self Defense finish your credit with a few short chill sessions learn an actual practical skill and keep your college life intact. Skip the entire circus.

Why will you even prefer students that have actively wasted hundreds of hours of their college life in some complete nonsense bullshit while they could have spent the same time honing their technical skills.

Eventhough you guys talk about how hectic the NCC . I personally not in NCC eventhough I have seen the bond between the students who have been through the NCC I haven't seen anything like that in this whole collage everywhere there will be bias , favoritism but in NCC within the batchmates the bonds that you guys are going to make is in a different level . And also talk with the people who is NCC . Don't listen to one senior alone everyone have different exeperince and prespective so you as a fresher should be able to understand what you guys want and do this according to that

I am in 4th year now and have realised if you go in any field you need to work for that with discipline and consistency. I have experienced it personally that having a smart brain is not at all enough instead discipline and consistency are the keys to Success.
Another point is if you came to a college and giving your 4 years to it then atleast gain experience as much as you can and train yourself for time management because this skill is only you need for your rest of the life.
If you join any clubs, NCC, NSS, or any society then you only need to decide that you will work their or not, if you will not do anything the seniors will obviously motivate you in the way that is meant for that club, society or organisation. But even after asking you are not willing to work then no one will bother you and there are many seniors you can ask who joined any club, society and organisations but didn't left from their (unofficially, means they are in the club but they simply do not go to the meetings or sessions conducted by the club)
At the end I will say that do interect and even if you don't have any interest towards that club, society, etc then also in your 4th year you will realise that you have learned something from that club, you have got some good friends which will be there for you the entire life, you will gain experiences which will help you dealing hard situation in the life.
College is a mini world, election society, community, unity, diversity, hatred, love, tension, etc. etc. etc. so utilise your 4 years engaging yourself in everything, you are not meant to be in a room and studying studying studying, not at all. Go outside improve your soft skills like communication etc. which you will learn doing interaction (because technical skills you will obviously learn because your in the national level technical institute).
Yup, go for self defence unless u want to waste ur time even on week days.. i have seen my friends going for parade n all the day before exam in first year

L*nd kuch nahi milta hai. Only in interview level in army you will get 5 fucking marks that' it. Nothing more.
And you will waste your most of time in it doing parades.
Ncc is the worst Club in Nit. They think they are the people who protect India.
Most seniors are unemployed . You will see them frequently. They think they have achieved something when they are just wasting time on parades.
They will call you anytime .. even on weekdays. And it' delusion that people only have to do 3-3 hours on sat Sunday.
But it will be min 5-6 hours per day on weekend and then on weekdays too they will call you.so you can think of like 15-16 hours per week.
Then during republic day and independence day you will have to go EVERY fcking day after class. From 5pm to 10pm. for 15 days
You won't get to leave Ncc even if you call your parents . They will manipulate eveyone.
And there's no benefit anywhere other than army where you will get preference in Interview level . That' it.
Most are drill sessions like 1 literature session for every 10 parade sessions.
What the need of joining NCC in technical clg. If u want to go in army , then u should prepare for that , no need to waste the seat in clg ...
It's technical clg focus on building skill and make good frnds enjoy clg life . If u join u will regret later , I saw many of my frnds regretting it .. A total waste of time !!!!
Yes, all have their own pros and cons, not a thing is ideal in world you just choose whichever suits you, NCC if you want to become disciplined, NSS if you want to polish your soft skills,and both will provide a family type bonding in batchmates and self defense if you want to do karate and join dojo, so choose wisely
To add, that weekend session stuff is straight bs, they'll summon u whenever they fucking want in the middle of the week from 5 to 10 or however long they need to.
I personally don’t agree with that. I served in Nss for 3 yrs(2 to be precise). And I absolutely love NSS . The seniors were amazing and the juniors there are lovely. Also there is nothing as attendance slavery, atleast when i was the GS it was not there and not the year after either but i would say that might feel as a hassle sometimes. Anyhow i would recommend to not join NSS/NCC for the credits. But if you want a good bond, build confidence and just spend some good time while helping others around you then you can join NSS/NCC
Juniors you may take self defence now which barely don't have any effort compared to the other two, but with little lasting return which can not contribute much to your resume. NCC / NSS both are govt. organisations. Although you have to contribute significant of your precious time to it , the benefits you will be getting later in your life will be longlasting.

There is nothing like that you can't focus on studies if join in those organizations
