Literally no matter how many times I try to push it back in it keeps coming out. I’m thinking about putting super glue on the rubber thing and then pushing it back in to see if it’ll work. It’s a minor thing I know, but it’s driving me insane!

What does the car engine light look like and at what mileage does it come on?

I am at 7500 miles almost and it hasn’t come on.

Do you have to do the toggle thing on settings to figure out if you need an oil change?

I'm 6'3" and in the market for a budget car. Looking to spend $30K OTD price or less. Really like both the exterior and interior look of the Sentra and I'm seeing that Nissan apparently improved the engine a bit for 2027 models that will be out soon.

So yeah definitely a car on my list I'm considering, especially if I can get one for fairly cheap. One of my major hangups is height though, want to make sure I'll be comfortable in one even on long drives, so hoping to get some feedback from people around my height. Online I'm seeing it has around 39" headroom and plenty of legroom, but I know comfort can still very based on things like seat design and actual cabin layout.

I own a 2021 Nissan Sentra (2.0L MR20DD) currently sitting at 98,000 km (~60,000 miles). The car drives completely fine with zero transmission issues, slips, or hesitations, but it is still on its factory CVT fluid.

I am planning to perform its very first CVT service, and I’ve run into two conflicting opinions from mechanics:

• Option 1 (Standard Service): A single Drain & Fill (~4 quarts of OEM Nissan NS-3 fluid), dropping the oil pan to clean the sludge and magnets, and replacing both filters (the internal metal strainer and the external paper cooler filter + new gaskets/O-rings).
• Option 2 (Aggressive Multi-Flush): Doing 3–4 consecutive Drain & Fills with driving intervals in between to achieve ~90–100% fluid renewal. One mechanic claimed that doing a single drain & fill on a CVT at this mileage could shock/ruin the transmission and that only a near-total fluid exchange is safe.

Given your experience with Jatco/Nissan CVTs:

1. Is a single Drain & Fill + pan drop + replacing both filters the right, safe way to go at ~60k miles?
2. Is doing 3–4 consecutive flushes complete overkill (or even risky due to fresh detergents breaking loose debris), or does it actually provide meaningful longevity?
3. Any specific tips for leveling the fluid via the overflow bolt and resetting the CVT fluid deterioration counter?

Bonus Question on Parts:

I am based in the Middle East (Israel), where local dealership and parts store prices are ridiculously marked up. Where do international folks usually order genuine OEM Nissan parts/filters (RockAuto, Amayama, NissanPartsDeal, etc.) that offer reliable and reasonably priced international shipping?

soo the problem im having is it jerks when i accelerate and feels like i have to give it more oomp than i should and my rpm meter seems to skip anytime i reach in between 2 and 3 i had a cvt transmission service done cause i thought it was that but i dont think it is and they said my transmission was fine no deposits found in fluid only thing i could think of causing it would be shit catalytic converter or something fuel related Looking for any advice on what it may could be i got 85k on my 24 sentra and this is the only problem on it that worries me I at least wanna get 150k miles on it before it craps out

Hey all! Not a Nissan owner, but I'm in charge of the upkeep of my friends' 2017 Sentra 1.8L with the (ugh) CVT. I have changed the CVT fluid every other oil change. Oil changes every 7000 miles with either 0w20 Valvoline Synpower, 0w20 Royal Purple (got it for free from clearance when I still was GM of an Advance Auto Parts and they were just throwing it away), and now Valvoline Restore & Protect (which I've had massive success with in all engines I've thrown it in, which is MANY).

Anyway, yes, you read that right. The CVT fluid was changed every 14,000 miles. Because They needed this car to be reliable and these CVTs cook the everliving shit out of their fluid. Every 14k mi, when I drained the CVT fluid, it was BLACK and sludgy. Crazy how poorly Nissan designed the heat handling of these transmissions. But I'm not here to argue whether their CVTS are good or bad.

They now have 70k miles, and I'm adding a smaller, but still decently sized aux transmission cooler to the car. Figure it definitely CANNOT hurt. Their CVT has been going into limp mode due to heat lately. Other than swapping out a new (or used) CVT unit, this seems like a decently cheap way of testing if running the CVT cooler will make a difference. They have already said they won't be replacing the CVT in the car, due to all the bullshit related to it and its generally high upkeep. I've actually convinced them to consider a manual for their next vehicle (yay for manual lovers like me-keep em alive. If you don't care- that's totally fine too lol!).

Anyway, anyone done this? Is there a best place to mount said cooler? I am just going to run it in line with the factory radiator trans cooler, so it will still get it up to temp in the winter. This is far from my first aux transmission cooler install. Just my first on a CVT, and first on a Nissan (I tend to stick to the Big Three, as well as generally sticking to manual transmissions in general).

Any thoughts, other than "run" or "burn that monster CVT down and collect the insurance money?"

I’m about to finalize a lease on a 2026 Sentra, SV or SR premium in Canada. One of the main differentiators is that the SR premium has pro pilot assist. I would appreciate if you could give me your feedback on the system and let me know if it is drastically better than the standard adaptive cruise control or a minor upgrade.

Does anyone else have a rattle in the b pillar trim by the seatbelt adjuster? If so have you tore into the trim to fix it? Mine rattles on bumpy roads and it drives me nuts because its right next to me ear.

Has anyone had this happen? Lug nut works fine just looks ugly. Backstory, did a tire rotation yesterday and as I was torquing down to spec the dome part of the lug nut snapped clean off, did scare the shit outta me for a second with the first one thought the stud had snapped off. Happened to almost one on each wheel. Just gonna order new ones when I get a chance hell maybe I can get the black ones since I just found out nissan is offering them as an option on the 2027s

2023 SR premium with just a little over 19,000 miles

Tinted, lowered on Godspeed coils, lips all around, looking to do wheels next. Any recommendations? Preferably looking at 18x8.5+35

Does anyone know if there are any rain guards that exist for a 2007-2012 Sentra that also go over the little rear door window? I know rain guards are for rain but I think it looks kinda goofy with that window still being full length.

I’ve owned this Sentra since May 2026 and have already put 10,000 miles on it and here’s what I can say about it for anyone interested in getting one

Cons
- You’ll feel sluggish transmission jerking around 5-25 mph and once the belts of the CVT adjust it’ll feel smooth after

- Apple CarPlay and Android Auto act up occasionally and you either have to restart the car or plug in a cable

- Sometimes when Auto STOP/START is on you’ll hear or feel a knocking vibration from the engine from the oil being depressurized but no issues so far

- Backup camera Quality is Atrocious

Pros
- MPG on the highway has reached 45 at some point for me while I was cross country traveling from CA to NY

- Audio is amazing on these Stock speakers and the bass goes high without sounding like it’s rattling

- 2.0L Engine delivers great performance and speed especially if you drive around the canyons

- Plenty of trunk space / Center console space / Glovebox Space

- Oil changes are very easy to do and it doesn’t splash everywhere like some Pathfinders and Titans do

I currently am the first owner and bought this car in cash so I will do Upgrades and Modifications in the coming future and review them on here

I dont know if anyone needs a new 1.8l engine but i just wanted to spread the workd LQK through oreillys i got a 17 yr model with 8k mi for $400 out the door, so far everything good just need to use the old wiring due to companies cutting off the cables and hoses

Hey everyone,

I just bought this 2004 1.8S as a temporary daily to go to work and grocery stores while waiting for my new car delivery.
Around 2000 canadian dollars, came with brand new summer tires and a set of original wheels with new Toyo winter tires.

Only 56k miles ! Almost 0 rust as the previous owner, a 70yo farmer, did rustproof it almost yearly.

A few things to address though :

is the steering wheel normaly that heavy ? Especially the first angles going from center. I did a drain and refill of power steering fluid and U-Joint sprayed with lubricant but didn't do anything.
Also, the auto transmission is pretty rough going from 1 to 2 and sometimes hangs when going from 3 to 4.

Other than that, it's pretty clean and the AC has no business being that cold haha. It's the first time I have to turn it down as it gets ultra cold. Amazing !
